| In recent years,China has issued a number of policies aiming to improve the physical fitness and health of children and teenagers.physical education homework is getting prevalent as an effective supplement to physical education at schools.Under this circumstance,physical education homework has been actively promoted throughout the country,and related research has attracted the attention of academics.Currently,most related research focuses mainly on theoretical discussions and small-sample surveys with little attention being paid to the effects of the implementation,the problems encountered and solutions.Based on this,this study adopts methods such as literature review,questionnaire survey,and expert interviews to investigate the implementation of physical education homework in 161 primary schools in Baiyun District in Guangzhou,and students’ and their parents’ understanding and implementation behaviors towards physical education homework to explore the current situation and path selection of physical education homework implementation in primary schools in Baiyun District in Guangzhou,aiming to provide reference materials for better implementing the physical education homework system.The result shows that(1)Nearly 90% of primary schools in Baiyun District in Guangzhou City,have implemented physical education homework,with most schools having implemented it for several years.The majority of schools assigned homework according to grade levels.Most schools did not include this work in the teachers’ workload.The physical education homework assigned was mainly related to physical fitness and sports testing projects,with most teachers using mobile phones to assign homework.Physical education homework was mainly evaluated by physical education teachers at most schools,and more efforts are needed to improve the evaluation of physical education homework.(2)The implementation of physical education homework in primary schools in Baiyun District in Guangzhou can improve students’ physical fitness levels,promote students’ psychological health,and enhance their self-efficacy.Physical education homework benefits students’ growth and development,improves their sports skills,and enables them to gain more sports skills.Physical education homework helps create a family sports atmosphere,promotes parent-child interaction,encourages students’ interest in sports,and reduces their screen time.(3)The main reasons that hinder the promotion of physical education homework in primary schools in Baiyun District in Guangzhou are the students’ weak desire to complete homework,lack of support from parents,restrictions by equipment and facilities,pressure from academic subjects,and heavy workload of teachers.The study suggests that the implementation of physical education homework in primary schools in Baiyun District in Guangzhou has shown good progress in recent years,but there are still problems such as the emphasis on exam-oriented projects,the need to further strengthen cooperation among schools,families and society,policy deviation,heavy workload for teachers,unreasonable evaluation and feedback,and safety hazards.To optimize the implementation of physical education homework,primary schools in Baiyun District in Guangzhou should ensure the effective communication and strengthen the effectiveness of school-family-community cooperation.They should also try to guarantee the quality of top-level design while continuously improving implementation guidelines.Additionally,efforts must be taken to reduce teachers’ burdens and stimulate their work enthusiasm.It is important to attach importance to evaluation and feedback,to optimize the supervision and evaluation system,to fine-tune implementation plans,to prevent safety hazards,and to implement the "double reduction" policy to alleviate students’ academic pressure. |
