| The organization of physical education has evolved over time, from traditional teaching based on administrative classes to an optional class system. In 2015,most high schools in Chengdu started to implement a subject-based optional class system, gradually promoting it for physical education. While some progress has been made in implementing subject-based optional class systems, optional class systems for physical education are still in the exploratory stage. This paper aims to investigate and summarize the implementation scope and methods of the optional class system, analyze the current situation and existing problems of the system, and explore the factors influencing the implementation of different sports projects by exploring the impact of the optional class system on high school students curriculum learning.Hopefully, this paper would propose improvement suggestions based on practical situations to help schools better implement the optional class system, promote the development of physical education, improve teaching quality, and provide a reference basis. This paper takes five high schools in Chengdu,Sichuan Province,as examples: T Middle School,S Middle School,X Middle School,L Middle School, and SY School. The study focuses on the high school stage. The paper uses questionnaire surveys, interviews, and on-site inspections to explore the current situation of the optional class system in physical education in the above five schools and the feedback from teachers and students. The study found that there are problems in the implementation of the optional class system, such as low student interest, formalistic teaching, poor cultivation effects, limited assessment methods, and incomplete feedback mechanisms.Further exploration revealed that factors contributing to these problems include high academic pressure, lack of project activities, inadequate attention from the government, schools, and families, and unclear implementation methods.Based on the practical situation, the paper proposes suggestions: enriching students curriculum in various ways, organizing diverse teaching activities, following up on feedback suggestions from all parties, implementing detailed curriculum management systems, improving teaching organization methods, optimizing student evaluation methods, analyzing the current situation of curriculum development from multi-perspectives,and establishing a sound feedback mechanism to prevent shirking of responsibilities. |
