Over recent years,China has issued a series of policies related to research travel,so the number of practice and research related to research travel has grown explosively.However,there are problems such as single research travel curriculum resource and poor links between study content and subject knowledge,which makes it important to expand the range of research travel and design a scientific and reasonable study course.Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the educational function of red cultural resources comes under widespread attention.The integration of red cultural resources into the senior high school geography research travel curriculum can not only tap into its geography research travel curriculum resources,but also foster students’ patriotic sentiments and shape their fine qualities.Firstly,this study sorts out the types of red cultural resources in Luoyang City through literature search,maps out the distribution of red cultural resources in Luoyang with Arcgis,and selects the red cultural resources to be studied in conjunction with the geographical knowledge contained in the red cultural resources and conducts field surveyon them.Secondly,an analysis from 115 teachers’ questionnaires and 557 students’ questionnaires reveals that there are still problems such as the isolation of “traveling” and “studying” and the lack of implementation of the curriculum in the senior high school geography research travel curriculum in Luoyang.Based on this,the targeted strategies and design principles for the integration of red cultural resources into high school geography research travel curriculum are proposed.Finally,appropriate red cultural resources are selected for specific research travel curriculum design based on constructivist theory,multiple intelligences theory and naturalistic education theory,coupled with pre-survey and geographical knowledge content.The following findings came out of the above study: firstly,the red cultural resources in Luoyang City are rich but unevenly distributed regionally,showing more in the north-east and less in the south-west,and more in Laocheng District,Xigong District,Jianxi District,Mengjin District and Xin’an County,which provide the basis for this study.Secondly,to address the problems of isolation of “traveling” and “studying” and the lack of implementation of the geography research travel curriculum in the high school in Luoyang,strategies were made to improve the curriculum in terms of publicizing red cultural resources,introducing relevant policies,organizing teachers to attend training,and appropriately cooperating with travel agencies to carry out research travel courses.Thirdly,the curriculum design for high school geography research travel in Luoyang based on its red cultural resources should comply with the principles of student-oriented,prominent regional characteristics,attention to safety and security,etc.,and perfect the design from the research travel curriculum,research travel implementation and course evaluation.Fourthly,the four red cultural resources of the Oriental Red Farming Museum,the Soviet-style complex,the First Tractor Factory and the Xiaolangdi Water Control Project are typical red research tourism destinations in Luoyang.The perfect curriculum design for geography research travel can provide reference for the development of patriotism education and geography research travel curriculum in future.
