Research On The Transformation And Development Of Private Colleges Under The Background Of Vocational Education Reform

With the development of social economy and the improvement of people’s living standards,the people’s demand for higher education is increasing.Due to the limited number of public colleges and universities,private colleges and universities,as an important provider of higher education,not only expand the coverage of higher education,provide more people with opportunities to accept higher education,but also promote the reform and development of the whole higher education.In recent years,with the transformation of China’s industrial structure and the new normal development of the economy,the traditional mode and objectives of running private colleges and universities have been difficult to meet the current social needs.In 2019,15 private higher vocational colleges were upgraded to professional undergraduate universities,marking the beginning of the transformation of private colleges to professional undergraduate universities,and becoming the main camp for the transformation and development of professional undergraduate universities.So far,exploring the transformation and development of private colleges and establishing a modern vocational education system has become a hot topic in the educational field,which is an imperative educational reform.Based on the above background,this thesis takes local private undergraduate colleges and universities as the research object and analyzes the constraints that affect the transformation of vocational education in private undergraduate colleges and universities from five aspects: lack of classified management policies,insufficient government investment funds,gaps in the teacher structure,vague school positioning,and lack of characteristics in professional settings.The study believes that the transformation of vocational education in private universities will become a promoter of the diversified development of higher education,a supporter of accelerating the development of vocational education,and a model for standardizing the development of private universities.Based on the investigation and analysis of the transformation of vocational education in private undergraduate colleges,the author believes that the government and schools themselves play a crucial role in the process of transformation of vocational education in private undergraduate colleges.The government should,on the basis of establishing scientific values,promote financial subsidies and supporting policies to promote the transformation and development of private undergraduate colleges;Schools should optimize the structure of teachers,reform training programs,strengthen professional characteristics,further implement connotation construction and contribute to regional economic development and social services.The transformation of private colleges and universities into professional undergraduate courses is not only the requirement of the development of the times,but also the inevitable trend of the reform and development of private higher education.Only through the transformation of vocational education can private colleges and universities achieve sustainable development,form a school-running orientation that adapts to the development of regional economy in the new era,and have the characteristics of both vocational education and its own characteristics,so as to promote the development of China’s higher education,promote the popularization of higher education,and realize the balanced development of higher education.
