As a supplement to formal learning, informal learning plays an important role in educating people.Venue learning is an important form of informal learning. In recent years, the Ministry of Education and other departments have successively issued relevant policy documents to give full play to the important role of venue learning in educating students. In 2022,the General Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the General Office of the Ministry of Education and the Office of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage jointly issued the Notice on the Use of Cultural and Tourism Resources and cultural Relics Resources to Improve the Spiritual quality of Young People. It pointed out that cultural centers, art galleries, museums, memorials and other positions should be actively used to carry out activities for primary and middle school students in various ways to improve their comprehensive quality. In the process of the actual learning activities in the venue, there appeared the phenomenon that the students’ learning was only in form and surface, and the learning effect was unsatisfactory. How to improve the quality of learning activities in primary school venues needs further research.Based on this, this paper carries out the study of learning activities in venues based on the theory of situational learning, with specific contents as follows:The first part introduces the research reasons, research significance, research ideas and methods, core concepts, theoretical basis, literature review, etc.,which lays the foundation for the subsequent research. The second part, through literature review, analyzes the five aspects that learning activities in venues need to focus on: interest stimulation, cooperation promotion, practical experience, situational mutual presentation and achievement display.Starting from the above five aspects, questionnaire survey and interview method are adopted to investigate the current situation of learning activities in venues for primary school students. It is found that it is difficult to arouse students’ interest in context creation, the effect of peer cooperation fails to give full play to,the practical experience is disconnected from the theme of context, the separation of the library and school fails to establish the correlation of context, and the results display fails to highlight the venue situation.Based on the theory of situational learning, this paper further analyzes the reasons for the neglect of students’ dominant position, the failure of study list to play a guiding role, the lack of deep exploration of venue situational resources, the lack of cooperation between venues and schools, and the lack of effective evaluation of venue learning. The third part, based on the analysis of the above five problems and reasons, proposes the improvement strategies from the perspective of situational learning theory:strengthening training and updating educational ideas, learning the knowledge and skills of situational creation;Focus on learning list activity task design,task-oriented to stimulate cooperation between partners;Make full use of existing resources to integrate, expand new resources of venues to enhance practical experience;Strengthen the connection between campus resources and venues, and cooperate with the school to help students improve;Increase the opportunity to display outstanding achievements, establish the venue learning portfolio evaluation, etc. In order to test the concrete practical effect of the strategy, the fourth part takes the study activities of Erlitou Site Museum of the Xia Capital as an example, designs the feasibility plan of the primary school students’ learning activities in the venue and carries out the concrete implementation, and initially receives relatively satisfactory results.Hope to provide useful reference and reference for primary school students to give full play to the value of learning activities.
