| With the continuous development of the aging, the academic community has paid high attention to the health of the elderly. In recent years,it has paid special attention to the "the causes of causes" and tried to explore ways to improve health equity and promote healthy development from the perspective of daily living environment and social structural factors. However,in the context of the rapid development of education and the fact that the education of children is often significantly higher than that of their parents, the previous research still mainly focused on the education of individuals and ignored the role of children, which led to insufficient research on the impact of children’s education on parents’ health. The specific performance is as follows: First, there is still some controversy about the causal relationship;Second, there is a lack of systematic investigation of different mechanism paths;Thirdly, the heterogeneity of its impact needs further in-depth analysis. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact of children’s education on the health of elderly parents and its mechanism.Based on human capital theory and social network theory, this paper first constructs a relatively systematic framework of influence mechanism. The education of children can not only directly affect the health of elderly parents, but also indirectly affect the health of elderly parents through income and health behavior. Then, under this theoretical framework, this paper uses the data of CHRLS in 2018 and the physical examination data in 2015 to conduct a detailed analysis using the structural equation model(SEM),and uses the Bootstrap method to carry out the intermediary effect test, and finally conducts a multi-group analysis by sex to explore the heterogeneity. The study found that:(1)children’s education can have a significant positive impact on the health of elderly parents;(2)The causal relationship between children’s education and the health of elderly parents is established;(3)Both children’s income and healthy behavior play an intermediary role in this relationship. The intermediary effect of children’s income is significantly higher than that of direct effect and healthy behavior, which is the most important intermediary mechanism;(4)The influence of children’s education on father and mother is heterogeneous, and there is significant difference in the path of "children’s income → parents’ health".This shows that education has an upward spillover effect, and this effect follows the resource-substitution hypothesis in Chinese society, that is,it can play a better role in improving health for disadvantaged groups and plays an important role in promoting health equality.Based on the above analysis results, this paper puts forward policy recommendations from two aspects: first, promote the balanced development of high-quality education. With the optimized allocation of educational resources and online education as the focus, promote the high-quality and balanced development of education, and create the basic conditions for improving the health of elderly parents by improving the education of children. The second is to implement the healthy China development strategy in depth.Starting from the construction of a good atmosphere for the participation of the whole people, the improvement of the medical security structure, and the improvement of fitness facilities,we should promote the development strategy of healthy China to be practical, detailed, and optimized, reduce the economic burden of children, and create a good environment for children’s education to play a better role. |
