| In the process of urbanization and modernization,a large number of ’Drifters’ choose to leave their hometown and migrate to first-tier or new first-tier cities. They are eager to find freedom and self in the cities, and are committed to integrating into the new life. However, due to the influence of their own economy and the household registration system, they can not obtain the city status in a short time."The city can not hold the body, hometown can not hold the soul" has become its true portrayal at this stage. The urban shared apartment,as the endogenous space created and chosen by ’Drifters’,is not only a material place for them to live and interact, but also an important medium for ’Drifters’ to shape their identity, reflecting the lifestyle and self-identity cognition of ’Drifters’,a marginal group, under the return of the materiality turn of communication studies and the spatialization of media. It is of great significance for urban development and social harmony to analyze and study their current identity.Taking ’Drifters’ in shared apartments in Wuhou District of Chengdu as the research object, this paper mainly adopts the methods of literature research, participatory observation and in-depth interview. From the perspective of spatial media, this paper discusses the media connotation of shared apartments in cities and the influence and construction on the identity of ’Drifters’.Through research,it is found that urban shared apartment,as a medium of material space,is a symbolic symbol carrier, which affects the perception of ’Drifters’ on their own identity. Before moving into shared apartments,’Drifters’ mainly acquired information about shared apartments in the social environment to construct the rudiments of their new identities. They are not only "urban drifters" in the eyes of parents, but also "outsiders" in the eyes of urban locals, and "vulnerable groups" reported by mass media. However, after living in a shared apartment in the city,"strangers" and "urban strivers" are the self-improvement of self-identity of ’Drifters’ in practice and perception. For them, shared apartment in the city also has the meaning of "home".At the same time,as a practical space medium,’Drifters’ shape their own identity and obtain others’ recognition in this space, thus realizing the construction of their own identity.By establishing the existence of "self group",establishing the identity of group value and forming the comparison of "other group",’Drifters’ are constructing the identity of group. In addition, the virtual space produced by urban shared apartments also reshapes the identity of ’Drifters’ and plays an important role as a medium for maintaining kinship and rebuilding a new community. On the whole, the identity of ’Drifters’ in the city shared apartment has the characteristics of obvious individual tendency of self-identity,polarization of group identity, and obvious transitional identity. In the process of identity construction,’Drifters’ also have some problems, such as the subject’s loss of self-identity and the obstacle of life contradiction to group identity. The identity of ’Drifters’ in the shared apartment is not only affected by the subject cognition, but also affected by the shared apartment and living environment. |
