Abstract/Summary:
The advancement of media technology has led to diverse forms of online live streaming,among which live-study streams have become prominent due to their low direct interaction,extended broadcast duration,and educational content.The rapid development of live study streams has attracted a multitude of participants and investors,leading to a unique Internet media spectacle.While Douglas Kellner proposed the concept of "media spectacle",mass media was in charge of the construction and communication of spectacles.In the context of network live streaming,users participate in the construction and dissemination of the media spectacle,adding variable factors to the construction and communication of live study stream media.Investigating the construction and dissemination of live study stream media landscape is essential for understanding and facilitating its healthy development.This article proposes a novel "subject-technology-relationship" research framework based on participatory observation and in-depth interviews.Using the Spectacle Theory,the research examines the construction and dissemination of live study stream media landscape.The findings reveal that both subjects and technologies are key actors in constructing the media landscape,with technologies empowering users.The visual presentation of technology,including internet infrastructure and images,suggests a struggle for power and technological change between different subjects.Interactions between subjects and technology create immersive live study stream media spectacle.In summary,live study streams are constructed by empowered subjects in the virtual space supported by technology,presenting as live,social,and technological domains.Interactions between subjects and technology further promote the construction and dissemination of the media spectacle.However,the unbalanced fusion of virtual and real,excessive entertainment,chaotic rules,and consumerism should be addressed to facilitate healthy development.
