Migrant workers have been a significant force in driving urban construction in specific historical periods of China’s development, making significant contributions to urban economic construction and social development. While participating in urban construction and development, migrant workers have achieved certain economic benefits. However, some migrant worker groups have paid a health cost due to adverse working conditions and types.Among these, the silicosis affected group is notable for its size and challenging circumstances, and the predicaments faced by the families of migrant workers with silicosis should not be overlooked. It is particularly significant to study the difficulties and needs of these families and how to scientifically provide assistance and support under the premise of the imperfect rescue policies for families of migrant workers with silicosis. This study takes the Women’s Employment and Entrepreneurship Project of the D Foundation as an example, using qualitative research methods, including case analysis, participatory observation, and semi-structured interviews,to deeply analyze the problems and needs faced by five families of migrant workers with silicosis in Z village,X town,Y city,S province. The analysis found that families of migrant workers with silicosis face economic difficulties, excessive psychological stress, and conflicts between patient care and work.Based on identifying the causes of these problems, this study applies group social work methods, organizing mutual aid groups, providing financial support, training, and linking resources in a project-based approach to assist these five families comprehensively.Through group services, these families have basically achieved economic self-sufficiency,significant relief of family members’ psychological pressure, and a noticeable enhancement of the family’s social network support functions. Finally, this study evaluated the implementation of the project using baseline surveys and interviews, and the project’s effectiveness is apparent. The research results show that the Women’s Employment and Entrepreneurship Project of the D Foundation can effectively solve the economic difficulties, excessive psychological stress, and lack of social support faced by families of migrant workers with silicosis. It is a beneficial supplement to the rescue policies for families of migrant workers with silicosis.
