Study On The Influence Of Population Age Structure Change On Residents’ Consumption Level In Jilin Province

In recent years,the economic aggregate of Jilin Province grows slowly,the total population continues to decrease,the proportion of children decreases,the proportion of the elderly increases,and the problem of aging young children becomes prominent.Greater economic pressure and unbalance of population age structure further restrict the growth of consumption level in Jilin Province.It is of great practical significance to study the development characteristics of the current population age structure and consumption level in Jilin Province and find out the mechanism of restricting consumption level based on the reality.This paper takes urban and rural residents of Jilin Province as the research object,analyzes the mechanism and path of influence of population age structure on consumption level in Jilin Province from multiple perspectives,and puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions to promote balanced development of population age structure and growth of consumption level.Based on the data of Jilin Province from 2000 to 2021,this paper sorts out the population age status of Jilin Province,including the change of total population,dependency coefficient,urbanization rate and age structure.Secondly,it introduces the change of residents’ consumption level in Jilin Province from 2000 to 2021,including residents’ per capita consumption expenditure,residents’ per capita disposable income,urban-rural consumption gap and so on.Based on 32 years’ data of Jilin Province from1990 to 2021,this paper studies the influence of the change of population age structure on residents’ consumption level in Jilin Province,mainly using descriptive analysis,unit root test,regression analysis,Granger causality test and robustness analysis and other empirical analysis methods.The results show that the increase of child dependency ratio will have a significant negative effect on consumption level.An increase in the old-age dependency ratio will have a positive impact on consumption levels.At the same time,the grey correlation analysis method is used to make an empirical analysis of the population age structure and consumption structure,mainly analyzing the correlation between the change of children population and consumption structure and the change of elderly population and consumption structure.According to the analysis,the expenditure of children population is mainly concentrated in food expenditure and education,culture and entertainment expenditure,and the expenditure of the elderly population is mainly concentrated in housing expenditure.Transportation and communications spending and health care spending.Finally,according to the results of empirical analysis,relevant suggestions are put forward,including the gradual implementation of the three-child policy and accelerating the improvement of policy support;Pay attention to children’s health and strengthen the weak links in childbearing services;Reduce the cost of fertility,improve fertility intention;Establish an age-appropriate society and perfect the old-age service system;Tap consumption potential and raise consumption level;We will raise the incomes of township residents and narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas.
