In recent years, the proportion of adolescents facing the predicament of pursuing study in divorced single-parent families has been increasing annually. However, this issue needs to receive more attention.Adolescents require an adequate growth environment, yet influences such as family divorce often lead to the predicament of pursuing study, resulting in economic and psychological pressures that often impede their development. When the pressure surpasses their coping ability, they may experience negative emotions such as inferiority, distress, and resentment. They may progressively lean towards extremes, abandon their studies and ideals, and fall into a vicious cycle.Assist adolescents from divorced families in breaking free from the predicament of pursuing study, and this study took a student referred to as Q from C township as the service target, using theories of self-efficacy,a strength-based perspective, and social support from social work to provide services to the subject. The social worker’s observation and in-depth interviews found that the main factors causing the subject’s predicament of pursuing study were economic difficulties caused by a lack of financial support and the lag in information channels due to a lack of social support. The social worker aided the subject through five individual case interventions, which included helping the subject find appropriate part-time work to broaden income channels, linking social resources to alleviate family economic pressures, assisting the subject in understanding school subsidy policies to correct misperceptions and alleviating psychological stress, encouraging the subject to participate in school activities to improve their abilities after enrollment, and regularly tracking the subject’s situation to provide positive guidance, listen to the subject’s feelings and progress, and enhance their self-efficacy.After the case was closed, the social worker assessed the subject and found that they had achieved their goals of overcoming difficulties and adapting to school life regarding the initiative,self-development ability, and family construction. Thus,to truly solve the predicament of adolescents’ pursuit of study, not only should adolescents exert their efforts, but they should also receive society’s attention and support, addressing the issue from multiple angles and in cooperation with multi-faceted forces to truly resolve the predicaments they face, promoting their coordinated development in all aspects.
