The China Education Modernisation 2035 report recommends that in the current information technology environment,it is important to accelerate the pace of education and teaching reform, promote reform and innovation in teaching organisation and management, and use information technology to modernise education. The General High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards(revised in 2017 and 2020)emphasise that teachers should focus on using ICT in mathematics lessons to fully integrate the two disciplines. The advantages of short,easy-to-use,semi-structured and scalable Micro-Lecture is what make them one of the hottest topics in educational informatics today. However, how to use Micro-Lecture effectively in the classroom is one of the biggest challenges faced by mathematics teachers.Incorporating Micro-Lecture into the teaching of secondary school mathematics concepts also raises a number of issues. This article explores Micro-Lecture and the teaching of concepts in secondary school mathematics as a starting point for theoretical discussion and practical research using a range of research methods. At the theoretical level,it provides an overview of Micro-Lecture and the use of concepts in secondary school mathematics through a literature review, and raises two main research questions.(1)What are the strategies for applying Micro-Lecture to the teaching of concepts in secondary school mathematics?(2)Are the strategies for applying Micro-Lecture to the teaching of concepts in secondary mathematics effective?Based on cognitive load theory,we then proposed(1)introductory problem-solving strategies,(2)problem clarification strategies and(3)assessment support strategies as implementation strategies for incorporating Micro-Lecture into secondary mathematics education. At the practical level,a comparative experimental study on the effectiveness of incorporating Micro-Lecture into the teaching of secondary education mathematics concepts was conducted with two classes in a general secondary school using Chapter4: Exponential and Logarithmic Functions from the compulsory textbook Mathematics I,Humanities A,for general secondary schools. The experimental class was taught using the strategy of incorporating Micro-Lecture into the teaching of secondary mathematics concepts, while the control class did not use the strategy of incorporating Micro-Lecture into the teaching of secondary mathematics concepts. The results showed that the use of Micro-Lecture strategies in teaching secondary school mathematics concepts significantly improved students’ mathematical performance and had a positive impact on students’ mathematical reasoning,problem-solving skills, mathematical thinking, mathematical learning styles and affective attitudes towards mathematics.By focusing on practical applications,it is hoped that this article will guide future applications of Micro-Lecture in the teaching of secondary school mathematics concepts. |
