| In recent years, with the construction of ecological civilization and the proposal of the concept of "Clear waters and green mountains are as good as mountains of gold and silver",the role of high-quality urban environment in meeting people’s needs for a better life has gradually become prominent.Urban green space,as an important part of the ecological environment, can not only improve the quality of urban environment, but also attract labor inflows and promote sustainable urban development.Against the backdrop of the growing demand for a beautiful ecological environment by the people, studying the impact of urban green spaces on cross regional labor mobility is beneficial for transforming urban development thinking, enhancing sustainable competitiveness of cities, and providing new ideas for local governments to formulate policies to attract labor inflows. This article studies the impact of urban green spaces on cross regional labor mobility from the perspective of labor flow selection.Firstly, based on the theory of dual economic theory, push and pull theory," vote with one’s feet " theory, spatial economics theory, hierarchy of needs, and healthy human capital theory, analyze the impact of urban green space on labor flow selection and its possible influencing mechanisms.Secondly, based on theoretical analysis, the China Migrants Dynamic Survey(CMDS)from 2013 to 2017 was matched with urban green space data from282 cities and other macro data.Conditional logit models,Poisson models, and negative binomial regression models were used to explore the impact of urban green space on labor flow choices, and investigate the individual heterogeneity, urban heterogeneity, and mechanism pathways of the impact of urban green space on labor flow. Finally, based on the results of theoretical analysis and empirical testing, corresponding policy implications are proposed. The results show that:(1)Urban green spaces have a significant promoting effect on the selection of labor flow across regions, and labor tends to flow into cities with better greening levels. This conclusion is valid under various robustness tests.(2)From the perspective of individual heterogeneity results, male, younger generation, urban household registration, high education, higher wages, and unmarried labor groups are more sensitive to urban green space when making flow decisions, and the role of urban green space in their flow decision-making is more obvious.(3)From the perspective of urban heterogeneity results, the impact of urban green spaces in the eastern coastal areas, southern regions, and larger cities on labor flow is more prominent.(4)Through mechanism testing,it is proven that urban green spaces mainly affect the physical and mental health of the labor force and have an impact on the flow selection of the labor force. The research conclusion not only enriches the research results on the impact of urban livability factors on labor mobility, but also provides a certain empirical basis for the development of urban green space construction and the formulation of relevant policies to attract labor inflows in China. |
