The stage of higher vocational education is a key node for students’ career development,and carrying out career education in higher vocational colleges is an essential and important link in cultivating high-quality technical and skilled personnel.Carrying out career education can help vocational students clarify their career goals and achieve their own life values,while further enhancing the core competitiveness of vocational colleges.Therefore,this article attempts to take career education as the research topic,through researching the current development situation of career education in higher vocational colleges,with a view to discovering the problems existing in the process of career education in higher vocational colleges,and putting forward corresponding opinions or suggestions in response to the discovered problems.This study uses the literature research method,questionnaire method,and interview method,draws on existing research results,and combines the content of this study to develop a vocational college career education questionnaire.It surveys the development status of career education in five vocational colleges in Hebei Province,including Shijiazhuang City and Xingtai City,and invites five professional teachers related to career education in vocational colleges to conduct interviews.The research results are as follows:(1)In terms of cognitive dimensions of students’ career education,students have the highest awareness of self-concept,followed by their awareness of the objective environment,and their awareness of career planning is the lowest.(2)There are significant differences in vocational college students’ career planning abilities in terms of gender,grade,parental education,and school level and nature.(3)From the perspective of various dimensions of the current situation of school development.There are several problems in career education in vocational colleges: in terms of teaching content,vocational colleges pay too much attention to theoretical teaching,pay insufficient attention to practical teaching,and lack the cultivation of students’ practical abilities;In terms of teaching methods,there are one-size-fits-all problems for students of different grades and majors,lacking targeted teaching;In terms of teaching teachers,there is a lack of corresponding training measures and selection systems,and the degree of specialization of teachers is low.In the teaching process,school career education is mainly concentrated in the junior stage,lacking corresponding curriculum settings for freshmen and sophomores,and there is a lack of coherence in the teaching process;In terms of teaching forms,it mainly focuses on classroom knowledge teaching,lacking diversified and rich campus cultural activities.In terms of teaching effectiveness,ignoring the diagnosis of actual teaching effectiveness and teaching evaluation are not prominent enough;In terms of training objectives,the local economic development situation and the needs of enterprises for talents are not fully integrated,and the accuracy of talent training is lacking.In terms of organizational structure construction,some vocational colleges have not yet established corresponding career education and guidance institutions,and there is a lack of scientific career guidance.Based on the above questions and consulting relevant literature,through interviews with career education front line teachers in higher vocational colleges,relevant improvement strategies are proposed.The specific measures are: in terms of teaching content,gradually strengthen the depth of teaching content through hierarchy,and cultivate students’ career awareness.In terms of teaching methods,personalized teaching aims at improving students’ career planning ability.In terms of teaching forms,diversified and integrated teaching can create a good campus environment for students.In the teaching process,the "trinity" of optimizing curriculum construction from freshman to junior college ensures the continuity of the teaching process.In terms of teaching staff,"dynamic training" creates high-quality teacher teams and enhances the professionalism of teaching staff.In terms of teaching content,attention should be paid to the combination of theoretical courses and social practice to improve the practicality of teaching.In terms of teaching effectiveness,the whole process of supervision and guidance can enhance the long-term effectiveness of teaching.In terms of teaching organization,improve organizational guidance and enhance the scientific nature of student career guidance.In teaching evaluation,it is necessary to continuously improve the evaluation system of career education and improve the quality of career education.In terms of talent cultivation objectives,a long-term mechanism of multiple linkage and precise education for career education should be established through school-enterprise cooperation,home-school connectivity,and school-wide joint construction. |
