According to the report of China Internet Network Information Center,as of June 2022,the scale of Chinese Internet users grew to 1.051 billion,of which the proportion of minors accounted for 17.7%(CNNIC,2022).As students’ Internet use continues to increase,how does Internet game use and Internet fiction reading,as the main ways of Internet use,affect Chinese academic performance? It has been shown that there is a dual effect of Internet use on academic performance,but the relationship among Internet game and Internet fiction on Chinese academic performance is unclear.Both learning attitude and learning engagement significantly predict academic performance of middle school students.At the same time,both academic emotions may be influenced by external environments such as the Internet,so it is necessary to explore the effects of Internet game use,Internet fiction reading,learning attitude and learning engagement on academic performance and the influence mechanism involved.It has implications for preventing Internet addiction and improving the mental health and academic performance of middle school students.Middle school students are in an important stage of their lives.They passed the academic competition of primary school and gradually entering adolescence.Therefore,this research used Internet Game Use Questionnaire,Internet Fiction Reading Questionnaire,Chinese Learning Attitude Scale,Learning Engagement Scale and the most recent Chinese test scores as measurement instruments to investigate the relationship between Internet game use,Internet fiction reading and Chinese academic performance among middle school students in Baoding,Hebei Province.This research was used SPSS27.0 and AMOS21.0 software for data analysis to survey the influence mechanism.The results are as follows: there are significant differences in Internet fiction reading and Chinese learning attitude on gender.There are significant differences in Internet game use and learning engagement on grades.There was a significant negative correlation between both ways of Internet use and Chinese academic performance.There is a complete mediating role of Chinese learning attitude and learning engagement between Internet game use and Chinese academic performance.There is a suppression effect of Chinese learning attitude between Internet fiction reading and Chinese academic performance.There is a mediating role of learning engagement between Internet fiction reading and Chinese academic performance.The results suggest that middle school students’ Internet game use could affect Chinese learning attitude and learning engagement,and that further affect Chinese academic performance.Internet fiction reading could affect Chinese learning attitude or learning engagement,and that further affect Chinese academic performance.This research provides a reference for a correct view of Internet game use,Internet fiction reading and make proper use of Internet,which in turn has a positive impact on middle school students’ Chinese academic performance and physical and mental health. |
