The Geography Curriculum Standard for Senior High Schools(revised in 2020,2017)emphasizes that students should have the ability to think from the perspective of space-region,and having a high geospatial thinking ability is the key to forming this ability.At the same time,the Geography Curriculum Standard for Ordinary Senior High Schools(revised in 2020,2017 edition)emphasizes the need to deepen the application of geographic information technology in geography classroom,enrich the forms of geography classroom and show the characteristics of geography from multiple angles.GIS technology is rich in geographical databases,which can quickly transform and express spatial information and conduct multi-scale spatial analysis,effectively promoting the development of high school students’ geospatial thinking ability.Therefore,the experimental research on cultivating high school students’ geospatial thinking ability based on GIS technology is particularly important.From the perspective of new curriculum standards and new textbooks,this paper combs the relevant literature about GIS technology and geospatial thinking ability,and through the questionnaire survey of students and teachers,confirms the importance of GIS technology in cultivating students’ geospatial thinking ability in high school geography teaching,puts forward strategies based on the content of high school geography textbooks suitable for cultivating geospatial thinking ability by People’s Education Press,designs a teaching case based on GIS technology and tests the effect,and draws the following conclusions:(1)Based on the analysis of examination papers,it is found that spatial knowledge is one of the key points in the college entrance examination.Teachers should attach importance to and strengthen the explanation of geospatial knowledge in teaching,deepen the knowledge system,deepen students’ understanding of spatial knowledge and cultivate students’ geospatial thinking ability.(2)Teachers’ enthusiasm should be mobilized in teaching,the research and development of GIS technology teaching resources should be strengthened,the development of GIS technology teaching in cultivating students’ geospatial thinking ability should be promoted,and teaching and learning should learn from each other.(3)By summarizing the contents suitable for teaching with GIS technology in the compulsory geography textbooks for senior high schools,this paper puts forward the teaching strategies for cultivating students’ geospatial thinking ability,and under the guidance of this strategy and principle,develops GIS technology teaching cases aimed at improving students’ geospatial thinking ability.(4)In the teaching practice of this study,by strengthening the teaching of GIS technology,students’ geospatial thinking ability has been improved.
