| At present, the instability and uncertainty of global development are increasing, and jointly building a harmonious, mutually trusting, united and stable development environment in Northeast Asia is both an urgent need for the geo-economic development of the countries in the region and an important cornerstone of global governance.Among the many factors affecting a country’s geo-economic development, population resources play a central role in the development of regional cooperation and the geo-economic game among countries, among which population quantity is the basic condition for a country’s geo-economic development;the quality of population is a key factor in determining a country’s geo-economic development, and geo-economic competition is ultimately competition for human resources;and population structure plays a coordinating role in geo-economic development. However,in this once-in-acentury historical opportunity, the Northeast Asian region is constrained by the dilemma of population resources. In this context, this thesis selects Northeast Asian countries, namely China,Japan,South Korea,Russia,Mongolia and North Korea, and the study period is 1999-2021.By constructing an index system and using data such as commodity trade flows,we visualize and analyze the development level of geo-economics and population resources of Northeast Asian countries, and portray and compare the spatial and temporal patterns of geoeconomics and population resources evolution characteristics of each country. On this basis,I use the coupling coordination model to explore the interactive coupling relationship between the two systems of geo-economy and population resources,in order to promote the good development of the geo-economy in Northeast Asia, control the geo-environment around China, and coordinate the geo-economic and population resources in China. It is hoped that this study can provide references for promoting good geo-economic development in Northeast Asia, controlling China’s geo-environment and coordinating the relationship between China’s geoeconomy and population resources. The following conclusions are obtained.(1)In terms of geo-economy,China’s geo-economic development has been improving and surpassed Japan for the first time in 2010 to take the first place among the five countries;Japan’s geo-economic development level was overtaken by China after the financial crisis in 2008,and its geo-economic development level has been maintained at a high level but its increase is small;South Korea has overtaken Russia in recent years and the gap has gradually widened;Mongolia’s geo-economic development level is much lower than the rest of the countries, but Mongolia’s geo-economic development level is much lower than the rest of the countries, but it is characterized by low and high growth. The countries in Northeast Asia are trading more and more frequently, the level of trade cooperation is increasing, and the share of regional merchandise trade in global trade is on the rise, and its importance is becoming more and more prominent.Regional foreign trade also maintains a certain importance in promoting regional economic development.(2)In terms of population and resources,Korea’s overall population and resource development level is on the rise and tops the five countries,China is fluctuating, and the other three countries are all declining to different degrees. In terms of population quality,Northeast Asian countries are seriously polarized, with Japan and South Korea developing at a high level and exchanging positions, and China,Russia and Mongolia differing significantly;in terms of population structure, the differences among countries are small, with developing countries developing better than developed countries.(3)In terms of coupling and coordination, the geo-economic and demographic subsystems of Northeast Asian countries have not formed a benign coupling, and the overall coupling and coordination degree is low and in different degrees of the dysfunctional stage. In terms of population quality,Northeast Asian countries are seriously polarized, with Japan and South Korea developing at a high level and exchanging positions, and China,Russia and Mongolia differing significantly;in terms of population structure, the differences among countries are small, with developing countries developing better than developed countries. |
