The Chinese zodiac is an important part of the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation.As a set of symbols with unique cultural meaning and vigorous vitality,the twelve zodiac signs have not only been transmitted and inherited in the long history of folklore history by word of mouth,but have also been expressed in the art field,especially in a large number of folk paintings,forming a cultural resource with both interpretive potential and aesthetic value.Through the twelve zodiac signs,we can not only glimpse into the artistic characteristics and concepts of different periods,but also sort out a continuous cultural lineage from them,thus supporting the valuable continuity of Chinese civilization.It can be said that the zodiac has great historical,artistic and social value.In today’s world,the exchange and mutual appreciation among different cultures has become an unstoppable trend.However,it cannot be denied that under the siege of the cultural industry and mass media in developed countries,China’s local traditional culture still seems to be weak and weak,and faces the dilemma of a cultural fault line in which young people are blind and do not learn.Therefore,it is important to extract the Chinese zodiac elements from folk paintings and combine them with the folk culture of the zodiac to integrate them into art teaching.On the one hand,through diversified teaching,teachers can guide students to recognize the relationship between the connotative symbolism of zodiac totems in folk paintings and the humanistic spirit of the Chinese nation,and stimulate their interest in traditional culture.In turn,they can help them form an identity for their families,groups,and even nations,and cultivate students’ sense of national belonging,pride,and identity.On the other hand,guiding students to learn about the zodiac will also help nurture a group of contemporary creators of traditional culture and stimulate the contemporary dissemination of Chinese traditional culture.As a characteristic cultural resource for communication with the West,the cultural meaning of the Chinese zodiac is easy to understand and can be understood by people of different cultural backgrounds across countries,languages and races.This study is divided into five chapters,mainly using literature analysis,questionnaire survey method and practical research method to explore how to apply the zodiac elements in folk paintings to middle school art teaching.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the background,significance,current situation,method,innovation,the concept of folk painting,the cultural connotation and artistic characteristics of the zodiac elements in folk painting;the second chapter points out the necessity and feasibility of integrating the zodiac elements in folk painting into junior high school art teaching;the third chapter investigates the current situation of applying the zodiac elements in folk painting in junior high school art teaching,points out the current Chapter 4 discusses the theoretical and practical strategies for applying the zodiac elements in folk paintings to art teaching;Chapter5 sets up the "Return" and "Inheritance"--Theoretical and practical strategies for applying the zodiac elements in folk paintings to art teaching.-The fifth chapter sets up the unit teaching course of "Return" and "Inheritance"-Painting the Folk Tales of the Chinese Zodiac.The course is divided into three lessons: "The beauty of inheritance: sharing and exchange-helping the development of traditional art",guiding students to extract the elements of the Chinese zodiac in folk paintings,combine the folklore stories or myths and legends of the Chinese zodiac,design and create illustrations of the stories of the Chinese zodiac,and plan a series of illustrations of the Chinese zodiac for campus exhibitions,so as to cultivate the unique artistic image of the Chinese zodiac in folk paintings.The unique artistic image of the Chinese zodiac is used to cultivate students’ interest in art creation,enhance their creative design ability,stimulate their national pride,and allow the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese culture,as well as provide new ideas and directions for junior high school art teaching.
