In recent years, primary and secondary schools in various regions have gradually launched family education themed activities, with the family being the initial place for birth and growth.Family cohesion and adaptability,as objective criteria that directly reflect the family environment, have a significant impact on individuals. In junior high school, the development of personality is also of great significance for personal growth, and depression,as a negative emotion, has become one of the main factors affecting the physical and mental health of adolescents. This study investigated the family cohesion and adaptability, personality and depression of junior high school students in a middle school in Guiyang, explored the current situation of the three, and studied the relationship between the three. And through a group counseling program with Satya as the theme, the depression of the participants was improved.Using the pre and post test methods of the experimental group and the control group, four classes in grade three were randomly selected as the experimental group and the control group. The control group received normal mental health education courses, while the experimental group received group counseling intervention. After the group counseling intervention is completed, students are measured for depression, and the effectiveness of the intervention is evaluated based on the test results. The research concludes as follows:(1)There was no significant difference in T1 time,Family cohesion and adaptability between genders and whether they were only children.Only T2 time showed differences in cohesion and adaptability among only children. There is a significant gender difference in depression with only T2 time; There are differences in the openness dimension of the personality of the fifth child in T1 time, whether only child or not.In the measurement of gender differences, except for the pleasant and open dimensions, there are differences in the other three dimensions of extroversion, emotion, and prudence; The measurement of T2 time varies only in terms of extraversion between genders, and in addition to openness, there are differences in the other four dimensions among only children.(2)The family cohesion and adaptability of middle school students have a significant negative predictive effect on depression.(3)Extraversion and emotionality play a mediating role between family cohesion and depression.(4)Group counseling intervention can significantly reduce depression in middle school students.
