This study’s objective was to evaluate the usefulness of induction programs for recently hired teachers in the Omusati Region called the Namibia Novice Teachers Induction Program(NNTIP).The study specifically aimed to: examine how education stakeholders perceived the idea of induction for beginning teachers;examine the benefits of induction programs for beginning teachers;evaluate the difficulties encountered by induction programs for beginning teachers;and identify the coping mechanisms used to enhance induction programs for newly appointed teachers. The investigation used a qualitative research methodology.Four new teachers, two school principals, four department heads, ten senior teachers, and eight mentor teachers participated in this research.Data were gathered using surveys, interviews, and document reviews, and the respondents were chosen using the purposive sampling method.According to the research, few education stakeholders were aware of the induction programs for newly hired teachers. However, research has shown that induction programs have advantages that help new instructors feel comfortable in their surroundings and reduce conflict among team members.According to the study, there should be an equitable distribution of lessons among mentors and mentees to ensure that the induction processes proceed as intended. It also revealed that the induction programs faced difficulties such as a heavy workload for mentors and mentees. The study suggested additional research be done in other areas or on the same topic regarding the involvement of education stakeholders in the success of induction programs in schools. |
