| Under the impetus of curriculum reform, textbook compilation has changed from "one syllabus and one book" to "one standard and many books".At present, there are eight versions of science textbooks for primary schools designated by the Ministry of Education, namely Education and Science Edition,Suzhou Education Edition,Hunan Education Edition,Hebei Education Edition,Elephant Education Edition,People’s Education Edition,Guangdong Education Edition and Qingdao Education Edition. The publication of " The Science Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education Primary Schools"(2017)guides the updating and revision of primary school science textbooks, and also makes "technology and engineering field" a brand-new learning content in primary school science classroom. However,it remains to be considered whether the current primary school science textbooks match the curriculum standards in technology and engineering field.Based on the above background, the research selected eight current versions of primary school science textbooks and the curriculum standards as the main research object, and takes the content of "technology and engineering field" as the specific research object.Through the localization consistency evaluation framework based on Porter’s SEC model reform, the research objects are coded, and then the consistency coefficient and critical value of each version of textbooks and curriculum standards are calculated to measure their consistency level in technology and engineering field. With quantitative analysis as the main and qualitative analysis as the supplementary, this paper analyzed the specific results from two dimensions: content theme and cognitive level. Finally,we draw the following conclusions:(1)To some extent, the content of "Technology and Engineering Field" in primary school science textbooks is consistent with the curriculum standards, but it is not statistically significant.(2)Different versions of the primary school science textbook "Technology and Engineering Field" have different consistency levels with the curriculum standards. In contrast,Hunan Education Edition has the highest level of consistency, while People Education Edition has the lowest level.(3)The consistency between textbooks and curriculum standards is not significant, partly because the writers pay much attention to "technology" related topics and investigate the high-level cognitive level of "engineering design" topics. Therefore,in order to improve the consistency between primary school science textbooks and curriculum standards in technology and engineering field, this research offers the following four suggestions: to improve the understanding of curriculum standards from textbook authors;Specify the content and criteria for the evaluation of science textbooks by curriculum standards;Concentrate on the balanced distribution of the content of "technology and engineering field" and the investigation of cognitive level at all levels, and deeply develop the localized consistency analysis tool. |
