| Interdisciplinary teaching research is an important topic in current educational research.Geography,as a comprehensive subject that combines natural and human sciences,is a natural and excellent foundation for interdisciplinary teaching research. This article compares the academic achievements of interdisciplinary teaching design for the "Soil" lesson with traditional teaching methods, providing interdisciplinary teaching design ideas for actual teaching, and to some extent, making up for the lack of empirical exploration of the effectiveness of interdisciplinary teaching in existing research. The main research questions are:(1)based on the teaching progress, design the interdisciplinary teaching process of the "Soil" lesson content;(2)compare the impact of interdisciplinary teaching and traditional teaching methods on students’ geography academic achievements;(3)compare the impact of interdisciplinary teaching on the academic achievements of students of different genders and levels. To address these research questions, the study first uses literature analysis to clarify research direction and ideas.Next,an experimental research design for the "Soil" lesson is developed, and a quasi-experiment is conducted with two classes serving as the experimental and control groups, respectively. The experimental class receives interdisciplinary teaching, while the control class uses subject-oriented traditional teaching. After the experiment,post-tests are conducted, and statistical analysis is used to evaluate the impact of different teaching methods on students’ geography academic achievements. The research concludes that:(1)the use of interdisciplinary teaching in geography teaching is more effective in improving students’ geography academic achievements compared to traditional teaching methods, and there is a significant difference between the two methods;(2)interdisciplinary teaching and traditional teaching do not have a significant impact on the academic achievements of students of different genders;(3)there is a significant difference between the post-test scores of high-achieving students in the experimental and control groups, while there is no significant difference in the post-test scores of the middle and low-achieving students.Interdisciplinary teaching is superior to subject-oriented traditional teaching in achieving other teaching objectives for students of different levels, and there is a significant difference, with a large effect size.Based on the research results and conclusions, the article proposes the following teaching recommendations:(1)scientifically sort out relevant knowledge and integrate course content rationally;(2)actively guide students’ thinking and promote their comprehensive development;(3)comprehensively improve teachers’ interdisciplinary research and teaching abilities. |
