To meet the needs of talent development in the new era,basic education needs to be implemented to cultivate students’ core literacy.Deep learning is a learning goal and an important ability for the implementation of core literacy in chemistry.It includes cognitive,interpersonal and personal domains,and is in line with the core literacy goals of giving students ideals and social responsibilities,scientific and cultural literacy and lifelong learning ability,and the ability to develop and communicate on their own.Authentic contextual teaching creates a "powerful learning environment" that allows students to participate fully in the classroom,to understand and absorb knowledge,to learn collaboratively with peers,and to solve complex problems.Authentic contextual teaching is an effective way to achieve deep learning and is conducive to the development of students’ subject core literacy.In this study,we apply authentic contextual teaching to Chemistry 1,a compulsory textbook in general high school,and explore its effective teaching strategies in promoting students’ deep learning,as well as laying the foundation for better educational practices in the future.Firstly,we will review the theories of authentic contextual teaching and deep learning through literature,and summarize the value,types of creation and strategies of authentic contextual teaching,and the characteristics and evaluation methods of deep learning.Next,core concepts are defined and related theories are elaborated.Then,through theoretical research,the connection between authentic contextual teaching and deep learning is established.Explore the principles,strategies and ideas of authentic contextual teaching with deep learning as the goal,and identify the evaluation tools for reaching deep learning.Finally,practical research is conducted.The pre-test selects suitable research subjects and analyzes the problems that exist.Apply the authentic contextual teaching to the experimental class for a four-month educational practice.The Redox Reaction was selected as a typical case to present the research process.Post-tests were conducted at the end of the educational practice to summarize the effective teaching strategies of authentic contextual teaching to promote in-depth learning of chemistry among high school students.The results of the study showed that(1)the application of authentic contextual teaching improved students’ chemistry performance significantly.It is known that authentic contextual teaching is beneficial to students’ mastery of subject core knowledge,promoting knowledge transfer and enhancing complex problem solving ability.(2)Students’ participation in the classroom is high when real-life situations are taught.The classroom atmosphere is active,which helps improve students’ cooperative learning ability,effective communication and expression ability.The process of continuous problem solving is conducive to learning to learn and the cultivation of perseverance in learning.(3)Students’ abilities in cognitive,interpersonal and personal domains are significantly improved through authentic contextual teaching,which can be seen as an effective teaching method to promote the occurrence of deep learning.
