As society continues to change, the structure of the family has also undergone significant changes. As the main place of socialisation for children, the impact of family difficulties on children with little social experience and coping skills is enormous.Although all actors in society are trying to support children in difficult families in different ways, the situation of children in difficult families is still not encouraging, especially at the psychological level. The literature has shown that psychological resilience has an important role to play in alleviating children’s psychological problems and behavioural deviations. However, most studies have focused on children in difficult circumstances, such as orphans, street children and left-behind children, but little attention has been paid to children from families in difficult circumstances, and most of them have adopted a group intervention approach, without targeting interventions to children from families in difficult circumstances. Therefore, this paper takes the basic situation of the psychological resilience of children in troubled families as the basis for case study intervention, and attempts to explain the psychological and behavioural problems faced by children in troubled families from three perspectives: family, society and individual, and to explore how case work interventions can enhance the psychological resilience of children in troubled families and how social work can play a professional role.Using interview, participant observation and questionnaires, this paper examines the operationalisation of the psychological resilience dimensions of the Child and Adolescent Psychological Resilience Inventory(HKRA),including active social participation, family equality and autonomy, peer intimacy and self-efficacy and resolution, and combines social support and psychological empowerment theories.A targeted case service plan is developed for the client, and continuous adjustments and improvements are made during the service process to ensure effective case service delivery. Finally, the results and process evaluation revealed that the psychological resilience of the clients had improved to a certain extent, which proved that the case social work approach is an effective means to improve the psychological resilience of children in troubled families, and summarised the successful experience of case intervention in the psychological resilience of children in troubled families, reflecting the practical significance of this study.
