In the context of digitalization,China actively promotes the digital transformation of education.At the same time,real-time interaction and personalization which are the advantages of of intelligent education are highlighted.Class teaching is the core of digital transformation,but there are still some practical challenges in integrating intelligent tutoring systems into the classroom.Thus,this case study explores the teaching theory and practice of an intelligent tutoring system AI-Learning applied to mathematics class.Through the theory of "three pillars(Content + Instructional Design + Technological Implementation)" of education and teaching,the mathematics class with AI-Learning is designed.The chapter of "Circle and Sector" in the sixth grade of the Shanghai Educational Publishing House Edition is implemented as an example.A total of 75 students from two classes taught by the same mathematics teacher participated in the study for 4 lessons,of which 38 students in AI-Learning class(using AI-Learning)and 37 students in the traditional class.Students in both classes conduct a pre-and post-test of the comprehension of the concepts and formulas of "circle and sector" and junior high school students’ mathematical attitude,in which the comprehension of the concepts and formulas of "circle and sector" test paper examines the four levels of instrumentality,relationship,innovation and cultural understanding of the four contents of the circumference,arc length,area of circle and area of sector.This paper aims to study the influence of teaching with AI-Learning on the understanding of concepts and formulas of circle and sector and the junior high school students’ attitudes toward mathematics compared with conventional teaching.The results show that:(1)Compared with the traditional class,the class using AI-Learning has a more significant effect on improving understanding of the concepts and formulas of junior high school students,mainly in the level of creative understanding,followed by the level of cultural understanding.(2)Compared with the traditional class,the class using AI-Learning has a more significant effect on improving the junior high school students’ attitudes toward mathematics of which is mainly manifested in improving the social value,pleasure,external tendency attitude toward mathematics discipline and knowledge belief and cognitive strategy attitude toward mathematics learning.
