At present, the development of computer network has caused unimaginable changes to our study, work and life. Computer and network should be identified as the most important and effective studying instruments that mankind has ever invented. Technological revolution is believed to be giving traditional tutoring greater opportunities for innovation. Being more intelligent and more human will surely become the major direction for the development of Computer Assisted Instruction.The main question this study tries to research into and answer are as follows: impelled by the immanent motive brought forward in the above context, how to hold the development tropism of the research on ITS based on the theory of Distributed Learning, how to find an appropriate gap between the conception and technology application, using the advanced intelligent methods, to optimize and perfect the system frame at the level of function, how to improve the self-adaptability of the system by way of concrete realization of technology and eventually achieve the purpose to facilitate learners getting the knowledge.This concept opened up broad space for innovation in digital technology application. An innovation that has vitality is bound to be useful. This article firstly retrospects to such framework of content as the origin, development and research of ITS. By analyzing this question and following the mainstream trend of intelligentized software application, it explores and summarizes the direction of applying "Intelligent Tutoring" in distributed learning environment. Then it analyzes the impact and enlightenment that distributed recognition theory has on ITS. On the question of ITS modeling in distributed learning environment, the writer proposed a concept characterized by "self-adaptation" based upon theoretical analysis. It primarily includes the initiative and continuity in knowledge acquisition of the system, with feedbacks and self-organization in human-computer coordinated evolution serving as the main approaches. On the basis of abstract analysis, this article specifies the concept of "self-adaptation" from the aspects such as knowledge acquisition through feedbacks, a tutoring strategy of group decision, a development strategy of evolutionary system, and dynamic modeling by the students. In line with the idea of "self-adaptation", and based upon Case Based Reasoning, the technology that supports distributed self-adaptation modeling in application is a most direct complement and extension to the expert experience and original reasoning. For this purpose, the writer gave a brief introduction of the working theory of this technology, and after exploring the significance of CBR technology to the application ofdistributed tutoring; he came up with the idea of integrating regulations with application of cases, and conducted analysis on two specific cases. Moreover, in order to verify the workability and reasonability of theories in practical use, he designed and completed a prototype of DS-Tutor system with the knowledge on "data structure". By analyzing and examing the process of practice, the writer gained a better understanding of assisting tutoring with intelligent means.
