Against the backdrop of a strong sports country and a healthy China,the Sports College of Guangzhou University shoulders the responsibility of cultivating top-notch innovative talents in sports majors.The cultivation of top-notch innovative talents in sports majors is the foundation for ensuring the long-term development of China’s sports industry.This article deeply analyzes the current situation of cultivating top-notch innovative talents in the Sports College of Guangzhou University,and analyzes its experience and shortcomings,In order to improve the cultivation mode of top innovative talents in sports majors in Guangzhou’s universities,and provide experience and reference for the cultivation of top innovative talents in sports majors in Guangzhou’s universities.This article first reviews the current situation of cultivating innovative talents in sports majors at five universities in Guangzhou,and learns that two of them have established specialized innovation classes and excellent classes to cultivate targeted professional talents;Taking the top-notch innovative experimental class of the Physical Education Institute of Guangzhou University as the case study object,this paper uses the methods of literature review,text analysis,expert interview,questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics to systematically analyze the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents in sports majors from three aspects of talent selection,training process and training effect.It was found that Guangzhou University has relevant documentary evidence for cultivating top-notch innovative talents at both the school and college levels;The School of Physical Education has established innovative classes through class selection,with different training objectives and curriculum settings compared to ordinary classes,and better teacher resources than ordinary classes.There are also differences in teaching and practical activities;Innovation class students outperform regular class students in terms of academic performance,innovation project approval,award status,graduation destination,and post graduation learning.Moreover,there are significant differences in academic achievement and professional perceived quality between innovation class students and regular class students.By drawing on the practices of cultivating top-notch innovative talents from Beijing Sport University and Shanghai Sport Institute,this study provides experience and reference for the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents in the School of Sport of Guangzhou University.At the same time,the following countermeasures are proposed for the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents in sports majors in Guangzhou universities.Firstly,formulate a specialized talent cultivation plan to clarify the cultivation goals of top-notch innovative talents;Secondly,grasp the three key links of "selection,evaluation,and training" and implement a dynamic entry and exit mechanism;Thirdly,implement the full process mentorship system and strengthen the guidance of renowned teachers;Fourthly,carry out cooperative exchanges and learning through multiple channels,and expand channels for talent cultivation.
