As educational reform deepens,STEAM education has gradually gained global attention, and the C-STEAM curriculum that integrates excellent traditional culture has become a hot topic in educational research. This study explores innovative curriculum design and implementation methods by incorporating Chinese traditional culture into junior high school C-STEAM courses.Through literature research, interviews, questionnaires, and quasi-experimental research methods, this study develops a locally distinctive junior high school maker course based on the Ling Nan dragon boat culture, incorporating 3D printing,Arduino programming, study tours, and other interdisciplinary approaches. The study first reviews relevant research on STEAM curriculum design, maker course teaching, domestic cultural inheritance, and curriculum integration.Drawing on Zhan Zehui’s C-STEAM education 6C model,a design framework and model for integrating C-STEAM in junior high school maker courses are proposed.Considering regional teaching conditions,a10-lesson school-based curriculum titled "Exploration of Ling Nan Dragon Boat Culture" is designed. The course uses various learning methods, combines different ETIC types, and receives recognition from students, teachers, and experts at a school in Fo Shan. The practical results of quasi experimental research indicate that the junior high school maker curriculum and model that integrates the C-STEAM concept have high effectiveness.Through the application of interdisciplinary knowledge and group collaboration, students have improved their interdisciplinary integration ability, innovative hands-on ability, and inheritance of excellent traditional culture. The implementation effect of the curriculum has been recognized by students, teachers, and others. The innovation of this study includes the following three aspects.Firstly, integrating Ling Nan excellent traditional culture into C-STEAM courses provides new ideas for the design and implementation of junior high school maker courses.Secondly, join the Ling Nan Dragon Boat Culture and organically integrate and deepen students’ learning of 3D printing technology and Arduino open-source hardware knowledge.Thirdly, the interdisciplinary deep integration of maker courses can solve the pain points of the courses, while promoting the integration and application of students’ knowledge, achieving the improvement of subject literacy. This study integrates Chinese traditional culture into junior high school C-STEAM courses, exploring innovative curriculum design and implementation methods, and achieving satisfactory practical results.Based on Ling Nan dragon boat culture, the study develops a locally distinctive junior high school maker course, offering new ideas for designing and implementing such courses. This research provides guidance for promoting students’ innovative hands-on abilities and cultural inheritance awareness and offers references for the design and implementation of maker courses in other schools and regions.
