In April 2022,the Ministry of Education officially released the Biology Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition),marking a new chapter in China’s compulsory education curriculum reform.Under the background of the new curriculum standard,the research theme of how to reflect the concept of "less but better" and "double reduction" in the design of biology homework in compulsory education to reduce students’ homework burden,how to achieve the academic quality in the new curriculum standard in each homework,and how to promote the development of students’ core literacy in biology through homework is of great research value.This paper uses questionnaire survey,literature analysis and other research methods to sort out the research status of homework design at home and abroad,define related concepts such as "homework" and "compulsory education biology homework design",analyze the enlightenment of constructivism,Cooper learning circle and other theories on homework design,investigate and understand the current status of biological homework design,and carry out homework design practice research activities in middle schools according to the survey results and theoretical research results,and design and implement different types of biology homework cases.The impact of the optimized design on students was measured experimentally.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Current situation of biology homework in compulsory education: the number and difficulty of homework are moderate,and the types of homework are gradually enriched,but the matching degree between homework content and the core literacy of the subject is low,teachers’ understanding of homework design needs to be further improved,and homework orientation needs to be adjusted urgently.(2)Based on the analysis of the current situation and related theories,it is proposed that the strategy of compulsory education biology homework design under the background of the new curriculum standard is to understand the content requirements of the course standard,analyze the internal needs of students,clarify the key elements of homework,select the combination of homework types,and improve the dimension of homework design;The method is divided into five steps,namely,determining the core literacy goals of biology,selecting homework attributes,compiling homework content,compiling reference answers and evaluation standards,and reviewing all assignments.(3)In the homework design practice,compared with the control class,the experimental class students answered more questions and significantly reduced the homework completion time,and the optimized homework design could stimulate students’ interest in learning and reduce students’ homework burden;The results showed that the experimental class p=0.04<0.05 and the control class p=0.981>0.05 showed that the core literacy of the students in the experimental class was significantly improved after the implementation of the homework case,indicating that the core literacy of the students in the experimental class was significantly improved after the implementation of the homework case,indicating that the optimized homework design could effectively improve the students’ biological core literacy.
