Abstract/Summary:
With the rapid changes in market demand and technological innovation in China and the emergence of unexpected events, the validity and accuracy of information obtained by enterprises are gradually weakened, while the entrepreneurial activities of college students are more vulnerable to the external environment because it is difficult to form a "sustainable competitive advantage".Therefore,in this situation, college student entrepreneurs can better resist risks if they can use limited resources more flexibly through entrepreneurial improvisation to meet the fierce challenges of survival. The current academic research on improvisation behavior is mainly focused on the traditional management field, but few scholars have extended improvisation behavior to the entrepreneurial context, and even fewer scholars have studied it at the individual level. Therefore, this paper takes college student entrepreneurs as the research object to explore which factors can influence college student entrepreneurial improvisational behavior and further analyze their influence paths.Using the research paradigm of Grounded theory, this study adapted a scale with high recognition in the field of entrepreneurial improvisation to fit the context and screened out a total of 43 college student entrepreneurs whose behaviors had significant entrepreneurial improvisation characteristics. After in-depth interviews were conducted,499 original statements were obtained, and after induction,64 original concepts were formed. On this basis, the original concepts were refined once again to organize 24 categories, and according to the connection between the categories,5 main categories were derived: personal factor, school factor, organizational factor, family factor and social factor, and after repeated exploration of the main categories, the core category was: "Factors influencing college students’ entrepreneurial improvisational behavior ".Based on the "Social-Ecological system" theory adapted by Zastrow, the study uses 5 main categories and 24 categories to construct a structural framework of factors influencing college students’ entrepreneurial improvisation behavior.Under the structural framework, the micro, meso, and macro systems have direct influence on college students’ entrepreneurial improvisation behavior, and there are interactions among the systems.Among them, the macro system contains social factors, which can have indirect or direct influence on college students’ entrepreneurial improvisation behavior through family, organization, school and other factors.Family, organization, school and other three factors belong to meso-system,which have direct influence on college students’ entrepreneurial improvisation behavior.Individual factors mainly correspond to micro-system in social-ecological system theory, and college students’ own various traits and abilities provide the basis for the generation of entrepreneurial improvisation behavior.Accordingly, the author provides suggestions for universities to optimize the cultivation of entrepreneurial improvisational behavior among college students and makes an outlook on the future research development in this field.
