| As people’s concern for health issues continues to increase,weight loss has become one of the most important topics and hotly debated issues in today’s society,whether for aesthetic reasons or concerns about obesity as a risk factor for disease.With the frequent updates and vertical development of content in the short video field,based on the public’s demand for self-body management,obtaining weight loss information on platforms such as Douyin has gradually become an important way of disseminating weight loss-related information.Weight loss-related short videos have become one of the most popular types of video among the public,but at the same time,they are often accompanied by the spread of unreliable and even unscientific information,which has led to the dissemination of a series of unhealthy weight loss methods and caused panic and a lack of self-awareness among users.In the process of improperly accepting weight loss-related short videos,users’ self-identity is established based on the scrutiny of others,which aggravates social doubts,admonishments,and regulations on individual body management and leads to a series of risks and hazards.This research takes weight loss-related short videos on Douyin as the research object.Through selecting samples provided by authoritative institutions such as XINAnalytics and Feigua data,this study summarizes the content and characteristics of weight loss-related short videos and comprehensively applies content analysis,participatory observation,and interview methods to analyze users’ usage status of weight loss-related short videos,content production and publishing,the impact on users after watching,and existing problems to propose targeted solutions.Currently,a large number of weight loss-related short videos on Douyin disseminate information that has a specific targeted meaning towards the public’s aesthetics,which to a certain extent leads to a disappearance of diverse aesthetic concepts and the loss of subject autonomy.The lack of subjectivity in ethical concepts related to body image caused by weight loss-related short videos exacerbates users’ body anxiety,leads to a disturbance in personal values,creates aesthetic risks,and brings health and information risks to users,and further spreads these negative tendencies to the public.Targeting the aesthetic risks,health risks,and information risks Weight lossrelated short videos pose,as well as their dual physical and psychological harm,the future development direction of weight loss-related short videos should aim to shape diverse aesthetic concepts,establish body and mental health value identification,and practice a positive attitude towards public opinion.Under the domination of the common value of health,emphasis should be placed on building a “value community”for disseminators of healthy weight loss-related short videos based on health concepts,accurately positioning the core needs of the new generation of weight loss groups,and identifying scientific and healthy weight loss as the core values of weight loss-related short video dissemination,achieving multiple “health” in terms of the body,aesthetics,and psychology. |
