Residential consumption is an essential component of GDP and plays a positive role in promoting economic development. It is influenced by factors such as social development, economic conditions, family environment, and public services. In the context of building a new development pattern of "dual circulation" and promoting high-quality development of China’s economy, describing the current situation of residential consumption helps to understand the consumption demand and potential market of various regions.Analyzing the factors affecting residential consumption provides support for formulating economic measures and innovating development models.By predicting residential consumption trends,it promotes economic structural adjustment and upgrading. This article takes Henan Province as an example and uses resident consumption data from 2006 to 2021 to study and analyze the current development status, influencing factors, and future trends of urban and rural residents’ consumption.Firstly, descriptive statistical methods were used to visually demonstrate the driving effect of residents’ consumption on the economic development of Henan Province. The distribution pattern of urban and rural residents’ consumption in various regions was analyzed through spatiotemporal pattern evolution.Secondly, using spatial econometric methods, explore the spatial characteristics of urban and rural residents’ consumption in various regions of Henan Province, establish SLM,SEM,and SDM under the influence of public services, and analyze the main influencing factors of residents’ consumption. Finally, use grey models and ARIMA models to predict household consumption. The results show that the consumption of urban and rural residents in Henan Province shows significant global spatial positive correlation characteristics, with radiative effects between regions.Rural residents’ consumption is significantly influenced by disposable income, population, employment, dependency coefficient, number of health institutions, and length of graded highways.Urban residents’ consumption is significantly influenced by disposable income, population, dependency coefficient, number of health institutions,CPI,and housing sales prices. The consumption of urban and rural residents will continue to rise in the next five years, but there is still a development gap.Based on the above analysis, this article proposes relevant suggestions to reduce the consumption gap.
