| With the continuous development of society and economy,and the increasing reliance on scientific and technological advancements,"innovation" has become an important driving force for social development and human progress in the 21 st century.Therefore,discovering and cultivating innovative talents has become a core task for education reform and development in various countries around the world.The Biology Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)proposes that biology education at the compulsory education stage should cultivate students’ scientific inquiry and interdisciplinary practice abilities.Although China has made some reforms in basic education,there is still the phenomenon of teacher "monologue".Against this background,the STEM education concept has appeared in the vision of Chinese scholars.STEM education,as a new teaching practice model,breaks through the single discipline teaching content,emphasizes the overall comprehensiveness and practicality of the subject,and is also an important way to cultivate students’ comprehensive quality and innovative spirit.The "Outline of Comprehensive Practice Activities Curriculum for Primary and Secondary Schools" points out that it is necessary to strengthen the cultivation of comprehensive quality of primary and secondary school students,and set up comprehensive practice activity courses to meet the social demand for comprehensive talents.Based on the above reasons,in this study,the author will conduct a teaching practice research on applying STEM theory to the comprehensive practical activities of middle school biology.First,through literature review,the theoretical research is established,introducing the multiple interpretations of STEM education concept and the development history of STEM education at home and abroad,and the fusion of STEM and biology subjects.At the same time,the feasibility of integrating STEM concepts into middle school biology comprehensive practical activities is analyzed.Secondly,through a survey of teachers in sample schools,the current situation of middle school biology comprehensive practical activities is understood,and the problems existing in the current stage of middle school biology comprehensive practical activities are sorted out.From the perspective of STEM theory,this study designs and applies comprehensive practical activities in middle school biology.Based on previous research and by combining appropriate teaching models,the 6E teaching model is selected to determine the design process of STEM-based comprehensive practical activities in middle school biology,and introduce how the 6E teaching model can be applied to STEM activities.According to the activity design process,teaching activities are designed and implemented in practice,and the implementation effects of the activity case are verified through pre-and post-tests of students and teacher interviews.The results of the study show that after the activity,students generally increased their interest in learning biology and to some extent improved their practical,innovative,and communication abilities.This demonstrates that the STEM activity case designed in this study is feasible and effective under certain teaching contexts. |
