| "The Action Plan for Improving Scientific Literacy for All(2021-2035)" points out that there is still a long way to go in China’s scientific literacy construction. As the successors of socialism, young people must attach importance to the cultivation of scientific literacy in middle school students, and the classroom is the main battlefield for education. The design of technology courses should consider the cultivation of students’ technological literacy, but currently, technology courses in schools tend to focus on the production of works rather than the origin of works, and on technical guidance rather than scientific teaching, turning technology courses into manual courses. Therefore,it is more important to integrate the history of science and technology into technology courses, which can help students better understand the important role of science and technology,so that science and technology are no longer in a separated state, and better cultivate their technological literacy. To explore the possibility and feasibility of integrating the history of science and technology into technology courses, researchers reviewed related literature, identified relevant concepts, and conducted a comprehensive review of the research on the teaching and significance of the history of science and technology at home and abroad.Based on this, researchers used action research and questionnaire surveys to first understand the background of curriculum design, selected relevant content of the history of science and technology suitable for the physical and mental development of middle school students, such as the history of tool production, the development of acoustics, the innovation of transportation and the industrial revolution, and the overthrow of phlogiston theory. In terms of teaching mode, researchers drew on historical interactive stories and supplemented them with scientific models, showing the specific operational modes and methods of technology course design and teaching implementation that integrate the history of science and technology. In terms of course evaluation, researchers developed self-assessment scales, student feedback questionnaires, and peer evaluation forms based on the four dimensions of technological literacy,as well as evaluated student performance in the classroom and their scientific inquiry outcomes through work evaluations. They conducted quantitative and qualitative analyses to assess students’ actual learning situations and found that integrating the history of technology into technology courses had positive effects on enhancing students’ technological literacy, increasing their interest in technology, and improving their critical thinking abilities.Based on the above research results, the researchers proposed recommendations for course design and implementation, including increasing the emphasis on future trends in technology development in course design, providing space for students’ autonomous learning, and designing diverse teaching methods. In terms of implementation, they suggested establishing good rules, leveraging the power of group supervision, and ensuring effective division of labor and cooperation within small groups. These research findings not only provide new ideas and methods for the development of technology courses, but also offer valuable insights for cultivating students’ technological literacy. |
