Numerous studies have shown that high-quality outdoor mixed-age sports activities play an important supporting role in the development of children’s sports abilities and other aspects.Compared with the peer education environment,mixed-age education environment has its unique characteristics in the process of creating supportive environments,which needs to simultaneously consider the development of all age groups of children.In recent years,some country kindergartens have integrated mixed-age education with outdoor sports activities to ensure children’s daily outdoor sports time.However,country kindergartens still face many difficulties in creating a supportive environment for outdoor mixed-age sports activities.This study selects S Kindergarten in Yangshuo Town,Guilin City as the research object,focusing on the creation of a supportive environment for outdoor mixed-age sports activities in S Kindergarten,through observational method,interview,and case analysis method,understands and analyzes the current situation of the creation of a supportive environment for outdoor mixed-age sports activities in S Kindergarten,finds the main problems,explores the influencing factors of its existing problems and puts forward specific suggestions.First of all,based on the MOVERS rating scale,through Delphi method and in combination with the actual situation of outdoor mixed-age sports activities in kindergartens,this study revised the “Supporting Environment Rating Scale for Outdoor Mixed-age Sports Activities in Kindergartens”,which includes four dimensions:environment and resources of outdoor mixed-age sports activities,teaching method of outdoor mixed-age sports activities,support for physical development and critical thinking,and communication between parents and teachers.Through field observation and in-depth interview to evaluate the overall situation of the creation of supportive environment in S kindergarten,it is found that,on the whole,the quality of the creation of supportive environment in S Kindergarten reaches the lowest standard level,but the quality of each dimension presents the characteristics of imbalance.Secondly,based on a specific analysis of the four dimensions,this study summarizes the beneficial experience of S Kindergarten in the process of creating supportive environments,including four aspects: the full development of the overall space of the kindergarten;the relatively sufficient quantity of sports equipment;the relaxing and free atmosphere of mixed-age activities;and the diverse forms of exchange of activity experience.At the same time,it also points out problems lie in the four aspects: the unreasonable setting and layout of some areas;inappropriate placement and management of equipment;incomplete activity planning and observation and evaluation system;the single communication method between parents and teachers.And analyzes and explores the influencing factors of the problems existing in the creation of supportive environment in S Kindergarten from the perspectives of teachers and kindergartens.Finally,four optimization suggestions for the creation of supportive environment are proposed to address the existing problems: paying attention to the consideration of sports projects and kindergarten space,and continuously optimizing the number and layout of areas;paying attention to the characteristics of children’s physical development,and jointly exploring the educational value of sports equipment between teachers and children;carrying out kindergarten-based teaching and research on mixed-age sports activities,and gathering team strength to improve the construction of the activity system;enrich the ways for parents to participate in mixed-age sports activities and fully giving full play to the value of parents’ resources.
