Since the introduction of philosophy for children in China, researchers have been exploring the path of its development in China, and more and more schools are trying to localize the practice of philosophy for children. With the deepening of research, the practical achievements of children’s philosophy are getting richer and richer, but the research surface is still narrow, and the research on the integration of teaching with subjects is still relatively small, and there is more room for research. The problem of superficial and single-minded thinking exists in the teaching of Morality and the Rule of Law in elementary school,so the advantages of philosophy of children in teaching thinking need to be brought into play to promote the transformation of students’ way of thinking and optimization of thinking quality, and to make up for the lack of thinking depth. In view of the connotation of children’s philosophy and its unique advantages in education, integrating children’s philosophy into the teaching of Morality and the Rule of Law in elementary school and overcoming its teaching dilemma with the internal logic and requirements of children’s philosophy in education is of practical significance to improve the current situation of teaching Morality and the Rule of Law in elementary school and to solve its teaching dilemma. This paper focuses on the following questions:(1)What is the current status of teaching Ethics and the Rule of Law in elementary school? What problems or dilemmas exist?(2)What are the causes behind the dilemma of teaching Ethics and the Rule of Law in elementary school?(3)What is the possibility of integrating philosophy for children as a method into Morality and the Rule of Law in elementary schools? What is the necessity?(4)How can the integration of children’s philosophy as a method into Morality and the Rule of Law in elementary schools improve the teaching dilemma? How to compensate for the lack of depth of thinking? In order to address the above questions, this paper conducts a research study in XX school in L city, using a combination of documentary research method, classroom observation method and physical analysis method to investigate and study deep into the real classroom environment in an attempt to uncover the dilemmas, clarify the causes, and provide data to support the suggestions for improvement.Through the research and analysis, the following results were obtained:(1)The dilemmas of teaching Ethics and the Rule of Law in elementary school are widespread, and there are problems of cognitive superficiality in teaching concepts, teaching methods limited to forms, lack of integration of teaching contents, disconnection between teaching and children’s lives, and fragmentation of thinking cultivation in the teaching process.(2)The causes of the dilemma are multiple and complex, which can be summarized as the marginalized status of the subject, the long-term post-emphasis of the educational effect, the practical constraints of teaching implementation, and the quality challenges of the teacher team.In order to improve the teaching dilemma of Morality and Rule of Law in elementary school, this study analyzes the possibility and necessity of integrating philosophy of children as a method into Morality and Rule of Law in elementary school, and uses philosophy of children to promote the transformation of students’ way of thinking and optimization of thinking quality.Based on the above analysis, five major strategies are proposed, namely, constructing teaching objectives that focus on thinking, integrating teaching contents with various resources, relying on group inquiry, dialogue and problematic teaching methods, emphasizing development-oriented teaching evaluation, and cultivating teachers with comprehensive literacy.
