General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out clearly in the report of the 20 th Party Congress to "strengthen youth sports, promote the comprehensive development of mass sports and competitive sports, and accelerate the construction of a strong sports country".Children aged 10-12 are in a critical stage of growth and development, filled with curiosity and a desire to learn new knowledge and skills.Regular participation in table tennis not only promotes the physical and mental health development of teenagers, but also helps to improve myopia and alleviate eye fatigue. Therefore, table tennis has become one of the important sports chosen by many parents for their children. In order to better improve the effectiveness of table tennis training, combined with my own table tennis teaching experience,I attempted to apply the exploratory teaching model to table tennis training for children aged 10-12,in order to provide new ideas for table tennis teaching. This research mainly uses the research methods of questionnaire and experiment, and takes 20 10-12 year old students of the Hua Ping Le Xuan sports club in Chengdu,Sichuan Province as the experimental subjects(including 10 in the experimental group and 10 in the control group),and carries out a 12 week table tennis training. The experimental group and the control group respectively adopt the inquiry teaching mode and the traditional teaching mode for teaching. The results showed that the scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group in the aspects of ball-ball-wash-ball and affection, and the difference was very significant(P<0.01).The mean values of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).There were differences between the experimental group and the control group in physical fitness, game score, negative interest, sports participation, autonomy and inquiry, and attention to sports, but there were no significant differences(P>0.05).There were no significant differences in visual acuity test indexes between the experimental group and the control group(P>0.05),but there were significant differences in naked eye visual acuity and spherical mirror indexes between the two groups compared with before the experiment(P<0.05).Research suggests that the exploratory teaching model can improve the training effectiveness of table tennis classes for children aged 10-12,stimulate their interest in learning table tennis, cultivate a spirit of cooperation, improve their technical and tactical skills, improve their eyesight, and promote children to actively explore the principles of movement. Therefore,it is recommended to widely apply the exploratory teaching model to table tennis teaching and training for children aged 10-12.
