The rapid development and application of information technology has changed the social information environment,and the society’s requirements for graduates have also become increasingly higher.Since the information resource is one of the research subjects of library science,the development of information technology has had a profound impact on library and information work,research and education.It urges that the master education of library science needs to make corresponding changes.Meanwhile,the relationship between library science education and practice is not close enough,and the willingness of library and library science graduates to choose each other is not high.It urges the library professors to ponder that how to adhere to the discipline tradition of library science and encourage innovation in order to maintain the core competitiveness of library science.Therefore,it is necessary to research the curriculum design of master of library science for improving the curriculum system and cultivating graduates who can meet the new demands of society.The paper draws lessons from the theory of needs analysis in the field of foreign language teaching and combines the theory of curriculum design to research the curriculum design of master of library science.First of all,the paper investigates the theoretical basis of curriculum design and demand analysis of library science,discusses the necessity of integrating multiparty needs for curriculum design,and determines the research ideas and framework.Secondly,the paper analyzes the current situation of the training objectives,course types and curriculum structure of the master of library science in my country through the investigation and analysis of the training programs of several universities.On the basis of the previous analysis,three questionnaires were designed and distributed to postgraduates,graduates of library science and employers to investigate the needs of the three parties on curriculum design and their satisfaction with the current situation of curriculum design.It contrasts and analyzes demands and satisfaction of curriculum design of the postgraduates,graduates,and employers,then compares with the current situation of the curriculum,in order to find the deficiencies of curriculum design of the library science and put forward suggestions.The paper proposes that master education of library science should aim at cultivating compound and high-level graduates.In the training objectives,the frontier and development of disciplines,modern information technology,critical and innovative spirit and other elements should be emphasized.The teaching of information mining and analysis,information technology,interdisciplinary knowledge and practical courses needs to be strengthened for improving teaching methods and enhancing teaching effects.The proportion of elective courses is advised to be increased in order to raise the freedom of course selection,and meet the individual learning needs of students.The purpose of this paper is to promote curriculum system of the master of library science to be more scientific and reasonable,and cultivate library science graduates who can meet the needs of several parties through integrating the needs of various stakeholders for researching the curriculum design of master of library science.The analysis of the current curriculum design and suggestions for curriculum development based on the needs of various stakeholders can provide reference for more institutions to design curriculum in library science.
