Social anxiety is a common social problem among college students,which affects the health of college students,and the female prevalence is slightly higher than the male.Previous studies have shown that physical exercise can prevent negative emotions and have a positive impact on college students’ mental health.Based on this,this study attempts to explore the effects of different sports on social anxiety among female college students and explore the role of body self-esteem.In this study,120 female college sophomores in 4 teaching classes of non-physical education major in Shandong province were selected as subjects for 16 weeks using basketball,aerobics,figure skipping as intervention means.The body self-esteem and social anxiety levels of female college students in basketball,calisthenics,pattern skipping and control groups were measured before and after the experiment using body self-esteem scale and social anxiety scale,respectively.The results showed as follows:(1)There were no significant differences in body selfesteem and social anxiety of female college students in the control group before and after 16 weeks of exercise intervention(P>0.05);There were significant differences in body self-esteem and social anxiety of female college students in the basketball group before and after 16 weeks of exercise intervention(P<0.05);There were significant differences in body self-esteem and social anxiety of female college students in aerobics group before and after 16 weeks exercise intervention(P<0.05);There were significant differences in body self-esteem and social anxiety of female college students in synchronized rope skipping group before and after 16 weeks of exercise intervention(P<0.05).(2)After 16 weeks of exercise intervention,there were significant differences in body selfesteem and social anxiety among the basketball group,aerobics group,synchronized rope skipping group and control group(P<0.05);There were significant differences in physical selfesteem and social anxiety among the three experimental groups(P<0.05).(3)The aerobics exercise intervention lasting 16 weeks has the best effect on the improvement of female college students’ body self-esteem,followed by synchronized rope skipping exercise,basketball exercise has a relatively weak effect on the improvement of female college students’ body self-esteem;Basketball exercise lasting 16 weeks has the best effect on improving social anxiety of female college students,followed by aerobics exercise,and synchronized rope skipping exercise has the weakest effect on improving social anxiety of female college students.(4)There was a significant negative correlation between social anxiety and body selfesteem at 0.01 level.(5)Body self-esteem plays a mediating role in the influence of basketball on social anxiety of female college students;Body self-esteem plays a mediating role in the influence of calisthenics on social anxiety of female college students.Body self-esteem plays a mediating role in the effect of skipping on social anxiety of female college students.Body self-esteem plays a mediating role in the influence of exercise intervention on social anxiety of female college students.Conclusion:(1)Basketball,aerobics and synchronized rope skipping for 16 weeks significantly improved physical self-esteem and social anxiety of female college students(P<0.001).(2)Basketball,aerobics and synchronized rope skipping have different effects on female college students’ physical self-esteem and social anxiety.(3)calisthenics is more beneficial to improve the body self-esteem of female college students;Basketball is more beneficial to improve the level of social anxiety of female college students.(4)There is a correlation between body self-esteem and social anxiety in female college students.(5)Body self-esteem plays a mediating role in the influence of exercise intervention on social anxiety of female college students. |
