| Under the background of aging population, the change of family structure and the generalized employment of the labor force in different places caused by the wave of information industrialization make it difficult for many children to make a balance between work, raising offspring and supporting their parents. For F City,a fifth-tier city,a large outflow of young talents has become a general trend, and supporting the empty-nesters is more problematic. However, surveys show that many elderly people in F are still reluctant to accept residential care, even if they are alone.Taking this as the starting point, the author takes A community in F City as an example to discuss the rejection of "empty nesters",a vulnerable group,to residential care, and puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions.Based on the theory of social ecosystem and Anderson model, this paper understands the overall living conditions of empty-nesters in A community and the life picture in the pension institution through participatory observation, and further understands the subjective feelings and real needs of respondents with unstructured interviews. It can be concluded that empty-nesters’ rejection of residential care is manifested as their feeling of powerlessness under the high cost of nursing home, their distrust of institutional care and their inadaptability to the living mode of residential care.Based on this, the author analyzes the above problems from three dimensions of individual micro, meso interaction and macro society respectively. The further analysis results show that: individual rational consumption concept, excessive intergenerational economic support for children and economic problems left over from social structure adjustment limit the choice of empty-nesters for the way of supporting the elderly; However, the inherent cognition of the identity and role of the elderly, the herd behavior of the peer group and the actual predicament of the nursing group will promote the empty-nesters’ distrust of institutional care.In addition, the pursuit and dependence of "self-integrity" and good social support network in old age, coupled with the restriction of traditional culture, will make it difficult for empty-nesters to accept the life mode in the institution. It can be seen that the rejection and rejection of residential care by urban empty-nesters cannot only be attributed to individual subjective experience or objective factors, but is the result of the interaction of various factors in the living environment of empty-nesters.Similarly,the solution to this social problem can not only seek changes from the empty-nesters themselves, the community or the institution. The key is to combine multiple parties and make concerted efforts to update the concept of pension at the micro level, enhance social support under the interaction of the medium view, expand the influence of relevant policies in the macro society and optimize the service mode of residential homes. The purpose of this study is to clarify the contradiction between residential care services and the needs of urban empty-nesters,analyze the essence of the exclusion behavior of the research object and explore the improvement space of residential care mode,so as to improve the institutional pension system construction in fifth-tier cities and alleviate the increasingly serious pension problems in the aging society. |
