A high-quality school is a school with self-improvement ability and sustainable development.The Guide to Quality Evaluation of Compulsory Education emphasizes "promoting construction through evaluation" and "combining self-evaluation with external evaluation in school evaluation".However,at present,in educational practice,school evaluation is still based on external supervision and evaluation,so it is difficult for school self-evaluation to play its real value and cannot provide support for the sustainable development of schools and students’ learning.This paper holds that the new development concept characterized by innovation,coordination,green,openness and sharing is the concretization of the theory of sustainable development.As an important dimension to guide the construction of school self-evaluation system,it can provide a plan for optimizing school self-evaluation.Based on the theory of modern school system construction,school improvement and developmental evaluation,this paper takes five schools in S city as examples to investigate and analyze the present situation of school self-evaluation by using the methods of literature and interview.It is concluded that the current school self-evaluation is mostly self-evaluation under external regulations,the school self-evaluation consciousness is not strong,the self-diagnostic evaluation lacks evidence-based basis,the purpose of school self-evaluation is utilitarian,the school self-evaluation process is improper,and the school self-evaluation function is out of order.The study guides the school self-evaluation from the perspective of new development concept,puts the sustainable development of the school in the first place in the design of the school self-evaluation index system,actively explores the reference school self-evaluation tools,and enriches the current school self-evaluation theory research.Based on the analysis of the present situation of school self-evaluation in China,this paper finally puts forward some countermeasures to effectively improve school self-evaluation.Specifically,it includes: first,building a school self-evaluation system under the new development concept,which is mainly improved from three aspects:optimizing the organizational structure of school self-evaluation,building a school self-evaluation system with student development as the core;The second is to improve the principal’s school-running concept and evaluation literacy,specifically to implement the principal responsibility system and enhance the principal’s leadership in school development;The third is to realize the coupling of school self-evaluation and external evaluation,which is reflected in the integration of external evaluation indicators with school sustainable development and the reference function of school internal evaluation indicators to external evaluation.
