The selection of red-themed texts in the secondary language textbook shows the struggle of the Communist Party of China over the past century and carries the great mission of the Communist Party of China to lead the people to a better life.The study of red texts can help us to understand the glorious history of the Communist Party of China,so that we can identify with and pass on Chinese red culture,establish a correct world view,outlook on life and values,and build up confidence in Chinese culture.This paper is a study of selected texts on red themes and their teaching,and is divided into four parts.The first chapter integrates and defines the concepts related to the selection of red-themed texts in secondary language textbooks,clarifying the meaning of red-themed texts in language textbooks,mainly referring to the heroic role models and events that emerged in the practice of the Chinese revolution,construction and reform under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people,showing the spiritual connotations of love for the motherland,selfless devotion and hard work.The red texts in the secondary language textbooks of the Ministry of Education are characterised by a wide range of texts,diverse genres and rich content.The content of the red texts mainly describes red characters,red objects,red stories and red spirits,showing the century-long struggle of the Chinese Communist Party.The second chapter explains the teaching value of the red texts in the secondary language in the Ministry of Education in terms of their historical,ideological,literary and aesthetic value.Students are led to understand the history of the real revolution,construction and reform,to appreciate the power of heroic figures and the spirit of hard work,and to inherit and carry forward the red spirit.Students are guided to establish correct values and cultural self-confidence;to develop their ability to use language and words,and to improve their ability to discover beauty and aesthetic appreciation through the characteristics and emotions of the characters in the red-themed text selection.Chapter Three uses questionnaires and teacher interviews to understand the problems in the teaching of selected texts on red themes.The results of the survey show that there is a lack of understanding of selected texts on red themes in secondary languages,a lack of understanding of the uniqueness of selected texts on red themes,a monotonous teaching method,and a failure to use red cultural teaching resources to reduce students’ motivation to learn.Chapter 4 proposes practical and effective teaching strategies to address some of the problems in the teaching of red-themed selected texts in the questionnaire survey.In teaching selected texts on red themes,teachers should update their concepts of education and teaching,establish the concept of lifelong learning,implement moral education,attach importance to aesthetic education,and promote the spread of red culture.Teachers should continue to innovate teaching methods and approaches,mobilise students’ enthusiasm with flexible and varied teaching methods,enable students to strengthen their knowledge of selected texts on red themes through practical experiences,develop and make good use of teaching resources,make use of curricular resources inside and outside the classroom,develop school-based courses,and bring into play the role of local red culture.
