On The Self-presentation Of Rural Female Image From The Perspective Of Dramaturgy

The sinking of the short video platform represented by Douyin has improved the media visibility of rural female,so that they can independently grasp their own media image and actively "present themselves".With the help of Goffman’s Dramaturgy,the research focuses on rural female as "performers",and analyzes how rural female who have been in aphasia for a long time present their self-image from their short videos on the Douyin platform.First of all,this study combined case analysis,content analysis and online participatory observation to conduct in-depth research on 87 rural female’s image presentation accounts,as well as 402 short videos they released,and interacted with rural female and other audiences through watching live broadcast,bullet screen interaction,video comments and other ways on the Douyin platform to obtain the most authentic feelings.Based on the data processing of the indicator system,conduct a descriptive analysis of the "reception" performance behavior of rural female.Secondly,in the "Impression management" of rural female’s image presentation,we refined and analyzed the five images of rural female’s independent display,and deeply explored the commonness of the performance path behind the image construction.We found that rural female had carried out the stylized construction of their personal image through "backstage" front,script imitation,drama class collusion,and "presence" interaction.Research has found that under the driving force of technological optimism,the stylized representation of rural female’s images is not the most authentic expression of rural female.Social norms such as patriarchal gender gaze,platform traffic logic,and differences in urban and rural construction have also had a certain impact on the "self presentation" of rural female’s images,causing them to face homogenized "stove" difficulties,reverse gaze in the face of traffic,and self otherness in short video creation Problems such as low self-image.Finally,based on the issues exposed in the self presentation of rural female’s images,this article proposes improvement strategies from multiple perspectives of government,media,platforms,and rural female.
