| In recent years,online games based on traditional Chinese culture have gained popularity,with traditional character IP as the main game characters.This research uses case analysis,in-depth interviews,and online ethnography to analyze the generation,expansion,and participation modes of traditional character IP in online games from2015 to 2022 in China.It is based on the core theory of Transmedia Storytelling.The generation of traditional character IP in online games is based on the intertextuality of Transmedia Storytelling,emphasizing the organic construction of the game’s story world.The expansion of traditional character IP in online games is based on the expansiveness of Transmedia Storytelling.It explores how traditional character IPs can be extended to different social media platforms,physical peripheral industries,and how cross-dimensional interactions can be achieved through media technology.The participation mode of traditional character IP in online games is based on the participation in Transmedia Storytelling.Combining in-depth interviews with game players,it explores how fan communities participate in traditional character IP through consumption,creation,and gathering.Based on the situation of the Transmedia Storytelling of traditional character IP in online games,this research summarizes the issues that arise during the generation,expansion,and participation of traditional character IP in online games.It also provides corresponding operational suggestions from the perspective of content generation,operation and expansion,and player participation to promote the generation,expansion,and participation of traditional character IP in online games and to facilitate a positive interaction. |
