On The Construction Of Family Tradition In The Context Of Moral Disengagement

Family tradition is a code of values,moral ethos,life style and behavioural habits passed down from one generation to another in a family or clan and commonly accepted by family members,and is the basis for the formation of social ethos.The construction of family tradition is related to the process of moral construction of the whole society,and requires a balance between the positive guidance of moral role models and the negative restraint of undesirable moral factors to jointly promote the effect of family tradition construction.Moral disengagement is an undesirable cognitive tendency arising from the failure of an individual’s moral self-regulatory function,which can easily lead to immoral behaviour.Reducing the phenomenon of bad moral cognition such as moral excuses and improving moral cognition directly affects people’s spirituality,and is an important element in strengthening good moral qualities in the construction of family ethics.Therefore,it is of great practical value to explore the issue of promoting good family tradition by starting from the moral cognition of family tradition construction.Using the literature research method,based on the Marxist view of family,the excellent Chinese traditional family culture,Xi Jinping’s thoughts on family construction and theories related to the family environment,the perspective of combining positive shaping and negative restraint is put forward to abate moral disengagement in the construction of family tradition.The elimination of moral disengagement is of great value in nurturing the moral character of family members,fostering a sense of respect and developing interpersonal relationships,and can accelerate the process of building good family traditions.In order to understand the status of moral disengagement and the perception of family traditions among university students,the relationship between moral disengagement and the perception of family traditions was examined using a questionnaire survey.The results found that the overall score of moral disengagement among university students was low,indicating that the degree of moral disengagement was not serious in general.University students’ perceptions of family traditions were generally good.There are individual differences in the perceptions of both moral disengagement and family traditions construction.The moral disengagement had a significant negative predictive effect on the building of family traditions,and in particular,the cognitive reconstruction type of moral disengagement had the most significant effect on the building of good family traditions.Combining the findings of theoretical and empirical studies,the opportunities and challenges faced by the construction of family ethics that abate moral disengagement are analysed,and further attempts are made to propose strategies for the construction of family ethics in terms of purifying bad family ethics,cultivating good moral character in family members,enhancing the sense of respect among family members,and building equal and harmonious family relationships.Combining the findings of theoretical and empirical studies,it analyses the current situation regarding the construction of a family tradition that abates moral disengagement.On the basis of analysing the opportunities and challenges facing the construction of contemporary family tradition,it attempts to put forward strategies for the construction of family tradition in terms of purifying bad family tradition,cultivating good moral character in family members,enhancing their sense of respect and building equal and harmonious family relationships.
