With the progress of society,the country’s requirements for education are not only limited to the teaching of knowledge,but also pay more attention to the overall development of students and the lifelong impact of education on students.The latest version of the general high school biology curriculum standards and the latest version of the high school biology textbook(People’s Education Press)pay more attention to the training of students’ scientific thinking and the cultivation of scientific inquiry ability,and also pay more attention to the formation of the concept of life and the cultivation of social responsibility of education for students.Therefore,innovative teaching methods in high school biology teaching is the urgent need of today’s development."Mutual help as teachers and friends" usually refers to the scientific division of teachers into "students-teachers-friends" combinations,and teachers set up problems for the "teachers-friends" combinations during lesson preparation,which are solved by the "students-teachers-friends".This is a new teaching model in which the "students-teachers-friends" groups are interdependent and help each other to achieve common development.Taking the First Middle School of Kangping County,Liaoning Province as an example,this study firstly used literature analysis,case study,interview,questionnaire and experimental research methods to understand the current situation of the application of the "mutual help as teachers and friends" teaching mode in the biology classroom of the school and the existing problems and resistance,and then formulated a plan to improve the "mutual help as teachers and friends" teaching mode and provided specific cases.At the same time,a 9-month practical study was conducted to test the effectiveness of the practice.The main findings of the study are as follows:(1)The "mutual help as teachers and friends" teaching model was commonly used in the biology classroom of the First Middle School of Kangping County,Liaoning Province.However,the following problems existed: it was difficult to unify the basis for establishing the "teachers-friends groups";some teachers could not clarify the tasks to be accomplished by the “teachers-friends” cooperation;the classroom effect of the "teachers-friends" cooperation was difficult to reach the expectation;and the evaluation criteria for the "teachers-friends" combination have not yet been established.(2)Based on the improved "mutual help as teachers and friends" teaching model,it is feasible and effective in practice,mainly in terms of promoting students’ interest in biology courses,facilitating the transformation of students with learning difficulties,improving students’ performance in biology,improving students’ ability to discover,analyze and solve problems,improving students’ language expression,communication and teamwork skills.communication and teamwork skills.For the "students-friends",the situation of having someone to manage the poor students and help them in everything is formed;for the "students-teachers",their management ability is improved and good study and behavior habits are developed.(3)Based on the practical results,the strategies to improve the effectiveness of the "mutual help as teachers and friends" teaching mode include: scientific division of "teachers-friends" mutual aid groups;scientific setting of teaching sessions;scientific and effective increase in classroom testing;scientific setting of evaluation methods;and tacit cooperation between teachers and students.In summary,the "mutual help as teachers and friends" as a new classroom teaching method,not only can promote the cooperative learning among students and between students and teachers,and thus enhance the efficiency of the classroom;it can also promote the development of students’ scientific inquiry ability and the formation of scientific thinking concepts,and thus improve the overall quality of students.Therefore,it can continue to be studied in depth and promoted more.
