The progress of human society and the development of digital technology have driven changes in the way individuals interact with each other on a daily basis.Especially after human beings have entered the era of online social networking,the interactive relationship between people in the past has changed to the interactive relationship between people and the information environment.The information transfer method of touching the screen with fingers brings.It gradually surpasses face-to-face communication and dominates interpersonal interaction,and Interaction between people moves from real life to the virtual world.In this process,the single language output can no longer meet the diversified interaction needs of individuals,so the emerging interaction method of using Internet emoticons as the medium has emerged.WeChat is the most active instant messaging software nowadays,and also a platform for users to realize personalized social experience.WeChat emoticons are a unique form of expression in the WeChat space,which not only transcends the limitations of verbal expression,but also enriches the way of interaction and further optimizes users’ needs and experiences.As an extension of online expressions in the WeChat space,WeChat emoticons are constantly evolving and improving,becoming an essential symbolic interaction medium on the WeChat platform.College students are willing to contact and share new things,and have the ability to adapt to survive on the whole platform.This group is active in the WeChat social circle and is the main force of emoji use,presenting themselves and interpreting others in the process of emoji interaction.WeChat,as a cross-platform communication tool,can meet users’ multiple interaction needs,and WeChat emoticons are one of the important tools to realize users’ needs,so it is representative to choose them as the research object.WeChat emoji-based interaction uses emoji as a carrier of meaning exchange,which can not only adapt to different interaction contexts and play a variety of interactive functions,but also reflects users’ own cultural background and values behind their interactive behaviors,reflecting the Significance of the Individual output and emotional communication.By studying WeChat emoji interaction,it helps us to understand the generation of interactive meaning and the establishment of interactive relationships among college students.It will guide college student groups to use WeChat emoticons correctly and realize the virtuous cycle of interpersonal interaction.This study focuses on the daily interactions and interactions of college student groups on the WeChat platform.It analyzes the impact of meaning exchange and creation realized by WeChat emoticons as interpersonal interaction symbols on individual understanding and behavior.The study adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches,trying to cut from a relatively microscopic perspective,and through the investigation of college students’ WeChat emoticon interactions,summarize the influencing factors of interaction establishment,the three stages of interaction process,and the existing problems and other dimensions.Reflecting on the existing problems,we thus propose feasible suggestions and strategies for guiding college students to use WeChat emoticon interaction correctly.It is found that WeChat emoticons arise in virtual space and influence real life.The interaction of WeChat emoticons is not a simple symbolic exchange;it establishes interpersonal interactions and is given different meanings in the process of interpersonal communication,thus becoming the basis for individual understanding and action.This interaction process is highly compatible with the symbolic interaction theory elaborated by Brummer,which focuses on the exchange and creation of symbolic meanings in daily life,as well as the socialization process of individuals establishing their own identity in social interaction.Therefore,symbolic interaction theory is introduced as the analytical framework and theoretical basis of this study,and the interactive behaviors,interactive relationships,interactive processes and interactive meanings constructed by WeChat emoticons are carefully and comprehensively analyzed.This study compares the basic concept,development history,multiple classifications and characteristics of WeChat emoticons,and outlines the reasons for their flourishing among college students.Based on the questionnaire survey method,supplemented by the semi-structured interview method and text analysis method,the collected data are summarized and summarized to form the basic situation of the interaction of WeChat expressions among college students.On the basis of the data research,we further analyzed the three elements that influence the establishment of symbolic interaction,namely,the interactive function of WeChat emoticons,the applicable interactive context and the interactive motive of using them.We also explain and analyze the process of "stimulus-interpretation-response" proposed by Brummer to form the interactive meaning of WeChat emoticons among college students.Finally,according to the existing problems,we propose a three-way guidance strategy of universities,platforms and individuals to regulate the behavior of college students’ WeChat emoticons and bring into play the positive effect of WeChat emoticons in interpersonal interaction.This study focuses on the current situation of college students’ use of WeChat emoji interaction on WeChat platform,and analyzes the process,behavior and characteristics of college students’ use of WeChat emoji interaction based on the questionnaire and interview data,combining theory and reality to present the real situation of college students’ use of WeChat emoji interaction in a more comprehensive and three-dimensional way.
