As modern society continues to change and develop rapidly in the fields of culture and economy,the competition among various countries around the world is intensifying day by day,the requirements of society for talents become higher and higher,and the cultivation of leadership is gradually receiving widespread attention from the society.The purpose of this study is to develop a measurement instrument applicable to diagnose the leadership level of high school students in China,and to apply the scale to measure the current status of their leadership.Later on the relationship between leadership and self-acceptance and empathy are to be applied as well to further test the quality of the self-administered scale.The first part of the study was to develop a leadership scale for high school students,and a total of 758 valid data were collected and analyzed through literature review,interview survey,and two data administration tests to finalize the formal scale.The official scale contains five dimensions and 31 questions.The dimensions include teamwork,decision-making,execution,self-improvement,and values.The five dimensions showed strong correlations of 0.6-0.9 with the total score,and moderate correlations of 0.4-0.7 among the factors,and the significance of all correlations was less than 0.01.The structural validity of the tested leadership scale for high school students is good.The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the self-administered leadership scale was 0.93,and the Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of the subscales for each dimension ranged from 0.7 to 0.9.The reliability and consistency of the test were good,and the reliability level was good.The second part of the study was to apply the Leadership Scale for High School Students to explore the current status of leadership and the relationship between leadership and self-acceptance and empathy among high school students,and a total of 749 valid data were collected.The study found that no significant differences were found between the leadership levels of high school students in their gender and grade level,and significant differences were found in terms of whether they were the only children in their family,whether their parents were educated,and whether they had served as student leaders.There was a significant positive correlation between leadership,empathy and self-acceptance among high school students,and leadership positively predicted self-acceptance and empathy.Overall,the leadership scale developed in this study was validated to meet the requirements of the psychological indicators and has good reliability and validity as a valid measurement tool to assess the leadership level of high school students.
