With the advancement of the new college entrance examination reform and the implementation of educational programmatic documents,the country has realized the importance of career education in ordinary senior high schools,and is gradually strengthening the career education in senior high schools,in which the integration of subject teaching and career education has become a research trend.However,in geography teaching,due to the hidden content of career education in textbooks,it is easy for teachers to ignore the integration of career education in teaching,thus failing to meet the educational needs of students.Taking Geography 1 published in Hunan Education Edition in 2019 as the research object,based on the literature research method,this paper explores the entry point of the research,and carries out the research on the design and application of geography teaching in senior high school integrating career education on the basis of Schuber’s career development theory,Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory and constructivist learning theory.By using the methods of questionnaire and interview,this paper investigates the basic situation of geography teaching in senior high schools in Shantou,and finds out the existing problems.By comprehensive analysis,this paper analyzes the correlation between the new curriculum standard of geography and career education,as well as the main career types and information involved in Geography1.Through the action research method,in the process of educational practice,the integrated teaching lesson plan was designed and applied to the actual teaching,and the evaluation index system was designed.The implementation effect of the integrated teaching lesson plan was tested,and the actual state of the integrated teaching was found.Finally,some suggestions on the design and application of geography teaching integrated with career education are summarized.After research,the following main conclusions are drawn:(1)The current situation of geography teaching in senior high schools in Shantou City is not ideal.There are some problems,such as students’ lack of self-knowledge and professional knowledge,and the mixed information about their careers.Teachers’ current form of integrated teaching is single,and they haven’t deeply explored the objectives,methods,contents and expected effects of integrated teaching.There are some problems,such as students’ demand for integrated teaching being out of touch with teachers’ development.It shows that integrated teaching is necessary.(2)It is feasible to integrate senior high school geography teaching into career education,which is reflected in the correspondence between senior high school geography curriculum objectives and career education objectives,the guiding role of the core literacy of geography in vocational education,and the interoperability between senior high school geography curriculum content and career education content;Geography 1 of Senior High School in Hunan Education Edition involves related occupation types and information.(3)Practical teaching shows that it is effective to integrate senior high school geography teaching into career education.From the perspective of teachers’ classroom observation,it is found that integrated teaching is helpful to build a support for students’ learning of geography knowledge,cultivate students’ core quality of geography,and develop their multiple intelligences.From students’ classroom performance and after-class feelings,it is concluded that integrated teaching stimulates students’ interest,and improves students’ classroom participation and understanding of knowledge.(4)It is suggested that the following measures should be taken to realize the organic integration of geography teaching and career education in senior high schools: first,the goal of integrated teaching should be formulated to enhance professional cognition;Second,optimizing appropriate teaching methods to enhance professional experience;The third is to collect teaching materials and enrich teaching content;Fourthly,implement diversified teaching evaluation and promote integrated education.
