The cultivation of students’ practical ability in higher vocational colleges is a problem that cannot be ignored in the high-quality development of vocational education.The biggest advantage of vocational college students over ordinary education students lies in their practicality,and research on the cultivation of practical abilities for vocational college students is very important,because it is not only the need to implement the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education,strengthen the support of talents in the modernization construction,but also the need for high-quality development of vocational education,as well as the need for theoretical and practical innovation of vocational education.This study uses literature research to sort out research on students’ practical abilities,clarifies the concept and constituent elements of students’ practical ability in higher vocational colleges through integrated analysis,draws on the relevant theoretical theories of ability structure,combines the actual situation of teacher interviews,with the help of expert consultation and exploratory factor analysis,the constituent elements of practical ability of vocational college students were ultimately determined.The constituent elements of students’ practical ability in higher vocational colleges mainly include three first-level dimensions of practical emotion,general practical ability and special practical ability,and seven second-level dimensions of practical experience,evaluation of significance,cooperation ability,communication and communication ability,logical thinking ability,professional knowledge and skills,and problem-solving ability.According to these elements,a pre-questionnaire,a formal questionnaire and an interview outline are designed to use the survey to understand the practical ability of students in higher vocational colleges and their training status.At present,the practical ability of students in higher vocational colleges in China is at a medium level,and there is still room for improvement.According to the current situation,this paper analyzes the problems existing in the training of students’ practical ability in higher vocational colleges,and finally based on the relevant issues,identify the underlying reasons and propose some alternative paths for cultivating practical abilities of vocational college students.The current problems with the practical ability and its cultivation of vocational college students mainly include the imbalanced development of the practical ability structure of vocational college students,vocational colleges neglect the cultivation of students’ practical emotions and communication skills,the imbalance of urban-rural education that restricts the practical ability cultivation of vocational college students,the different opinions of vocational college teachers on the level of students’ practical ability,and various factors that restrict the cultivation of students’ practical ability in vocational colleges.It can be seen that the practical ability of vocational college students is at a moderate level,which is the result of a combination of multiple factors.The main reasons for this can be summarized as follows.Firstly,at the government level,the main constraints are the limitations of relevant education policies or laws and regulations,insufficient investment in higher vocational education funds,and the imbalance in urban-rural education development.Secondly,at the school level,there are mainly issues such as inadequate implementation of the curriculum system in vocational colleges,failure to find suitable vocational education models,inadequate internal governance system in vocational colleges,neglect of the role of campus culture,challenges faced by teacher team construction,and limitations of students’ own characteristics in vocational colleges.Once again,the main manifestations at the corporate level are the lack of active participation and lack of entrepreneurial spirit.Finally,other social organizations face two issues: their low level of autonomy and participation,and the insufficient role of family education.In response to the above issues and influencing factors,this study proposes some path choices for vocational colleges to cultivate students’ practical abilities from a corresponding perspective.Among them,the training paths at the national level include breaking through the limitations of relevant education policies or laws and regulations,appropriately increasing investment in vocational colleges’ education funds,and coordinating the balanced development of urban and rural education.At the school level,it is possible to strictly implement the curriculum system formulated by the school,explore suitable vocational education models,improve the internal governance system of vocational colleges,integrate campus culture into the cultivation of practical abilities of vocational college students,build a "dual teacher" teaching team to ensure good teaching staff,respect students’ characteristics,and respecting students’ characteristics and cultivating their practical abilities with a targeted approach,fully utilizing innovation and entrepreneurship education and vocational skills competitions to cultivate students’ practical abilities.At the corporate level,we can consciously strengthen the awareness of the main body of enterprise education by adhering to the new vocational education law;Jointly building a resource sharing platform to reduce competition costs among industry enterprises;Cultivate entrepreneurial spirit and enhance the enthusiasm of enterprises to participate in education.Finally,at the level of other social organizations: enhance the enthusiasm of other social organizations to actively participate and fully leverage the role of family education.I hope that the above paths can provide some alternative paths for vocational colleges to cultivate students’ practical abilities,and also provide a certain theoretical basis and practical experience for the research on cultivating students’ practical abilities in vocational colleges.
